  • iTunes Roulette: The Playlist Strikes Back
    Episode 13:
iTunes Roulette is back by popular demand. We throw our playlists on shuffle and talk about whatever song comes up. We also have a kind-of adult conversation about home ownership vs. renting and discuss why most music bio-pics tend to fall short.

  • Tone Bell
Episode 12: We’re joined by actor/comedian Tone Bell, who has made numerous appearances on your television screen on shows like CW’s ‘The Flash,’ NBC’s ‘Whitney,’ his own Comedy Central special, and more.

  • X:144 (Artist/Producer/Director)
    Episode 11: X:144
We're joined by X:144, a man who wears all the hats. He's a rapper/hip hop producer who has worked with everyone from Ms. Lauryn Hill to MF Doom, and he's also immersed himself in the world of film, directing and editing music videos, promo spots, short films, and more. He's currently finishing his first album of new material in 10 years – we talked about what it's like to wait so long in between projects, the #TeamNoSleep mentality vs. the #TeamChillWhenYouNeedTo perspective, and also played a round of our new, insanely popular game iTunes Roulette.

  • Episode 10: MidaZ the BEAST
After a brief hiatus, we’re back at it again. It might seem today like everybody is a rapper, but there aren’t many rappers quite like MidaZ the BEAST – he’s got a lyrically dense style that has earned him a well-deserved reputation over the last decade. We talked to him about why he doesn’t mind if his lyrics go over the heads of most of his listeners, the “rap tricks” that artists use to impress crowds, thoughts on Kanye’s latest album, and more.

  • Laura "Alluxe" Escudé
Episode 06: Laura Escudé aka Alluxe is a music producer/controllerist who uses futuristic, hi-tech gear on stage to improvise beats and create violin loops/thrashes effects. She most recently opened for Miguel on his Wildheart Tour and DJ'd in his band. She has also performed with Kiesza and Iggy Azalea while handling music programming and vocal effects for Kanye West shows since 2011. She has done official remixes for Mr. Hudson, M83, Polica and her violin is heard on ‘Watch The Throne,’ Hit Boy's mixtape, ‘Big Grams’ and on Kanye's Dark Fantasy Tour. We sat down with Laura to eat some Phở (and messily spill it all over ourselves in the process). We also talked about her transition from classically trained musician to raver girl, her role at the forefront of the Los Angeles controllerist movement, how she became the first West Coast Product Specialist for Ableton, and what it’s like touring around the world with Kanye West. We also spoke to her about her shift in focus towards her own music.

  • Jeremy Ian Thomas
Episode 05: We call this episode 'Ego Trip,' but it's not because our guest Jeremy Ian Thomas was being a jerk or anything; he's actually quite a level-headed dude. We did talk about the spiritual side of creativity and how Hollywood tends to screw with a person's internal balance, all in favor of feeding that ego.
Jeremy knows a thing or two about the biz: he's released music throughout the last 10+ years and toured the world, but also has a completely separate career in the film industry, working as Creative Director for Nike ads, color correcting some of your favorite music videos, and more. He recently directed the short film 'Upendo,' a Kickstarter-funded project that is starting to make noise in the festival circuit. Also in this episode: terrible Seinfeld impressions, stories about secret friendships with esteemed film directors, and a strong argument for why restrictive sampling laws are killing modern music.

  • Kenny Kumar (Actor)
Episode 04: Most podcasts tell you about super-famous actors whose life stories you are probably already thoroughly familiar with. We are boldly taking the opposite route with our guest Kenny Kumar, who is only a year and change into his career but has already booked popped up in a few commercials and small parts on TV and the web. We talk about what the grind has been like for him out here in Hollywood, what it was like leaving a well-paying consultant job to pursue his dream, and the pressure that an Indian actor gets from casting agents to "do the accent." FULL DISCLOSURE: we honestly did record this some months before Aziz Ansari's 'Master of None' came out, and it was cool to see that his show reflected many of the same observations that Kenny had to share. Just know that we're not biters.
