It’s a Cardinal kinda week, astrologically speaking. Cardinal, for those who don’t know already, is a “quality,” a way of expression – a style, so to speak. The term is derived from the start of a season, and so, its means initiation, beginnings, leadership, starting, generating. With five planets in Cardinal signs - Cancer, Capricorn and Aries – it’s the sorta week where you really wanna be at the helm, navigating your own ship and calling the shots.
There’s really not much going on this week in the cosmos.
However, there is one big event that we can all jump for
joy on – Mercury goes Direct! Even though we’ve all done
this dance a million times, it’s always a pleasure, a sigh of
relief when Mercury finally stops his tricks.
However, what you may not know about Astrology –
especially if you’re new to this hella fascinating subject – is
that there’s something called a “shadow period” when
planets are Retrograde. This is usually about two weeks
before, and about two weeks after Mercury actually
stations Retrograde or Direct.
This period is to prepare for the Retrograde, and to settle
in to the shifts after the Retrograde. See, the universe
never throws us headlong into something with out a
heads-up first. And it wants to let us down, gently too.
Also, with Mercury crossing over the signs of Libra and
Scorpio, things may still be obsessive, intense and
disruptive, and it’s very easy to get mentally caught up in a
problem. Relationships are a particular focus, and we may
waver from light and breezy to deep and profound. Let’s
make a promise to just flow with things, instead of
allowing ourselves to get caught up.
This is also the time for compromise and gratitude. With
Mercury making his second square to grim Saturn in two
weeks, it’s very easy to fall into a prolonged period of
negativity and projecting fears into the future. You may be
wondering if your relationship will last, or if the problems
will ever sort themselves out.
Be ever so careful that these fears aren’t the very things to
create the problems. Make a point of standing back from
reality, and looking at things in an objective, realistic way
and asking yourself if your fears are real or imagined.
It’s an important week to talk about the serious things –
but not to make major decisions just yet. Great strides can
be made when you allow your voice to flow, as long as you
make sure to lighten up, too! Laugh a little – you’ll be
surprised its positive effects!
Finally, make sure you have your gratitude journal on
hand. This will help you navigate any tangled thoughts and
dysmorphic realities. In short, monitor your mind, your
words and how those shape your world.
