The silver lining in what otherwise could be quite an emotionally-charged kind of month is the fact that the “family” of Eclipses in the signs of Cancer and Capricorn are finally, at long last, coming to an end! The major events over the last two years have been mainly focused on the themes of these two signs, which are essentially themes of security, safety, and structure.
Sometimes, it’s been hard to get that balance just right – you may have found yourself either working until you’ve fallen over – literally – or nesting so hard that it’s been anxiety-provoking to go out into the world and make something of yourself. Family issues have been rampant, as have been issues around establishing a home of yourself, a place in the workforce and finding a sweet compromise between the two. Many of us may have felt a little bit “tribeless”, and many of us having been searching for deeper meaning, deeper commitment. Commitment has certainly been a major thematic topic, and you may have been adulting harder than you’ve ever adulted. This is a very, very positive thing, despite the heavy weight of responsibility that comes with all this growing up. In a sense, this Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn early in the month shows the final culmination of what you’ve been striving toward for the last few years. It’s time to rest easy now, darling – you’ve done all you can to take control in an otherwise chaotic world! The gentle, tender New Moon – the second one in Cancer in a row – allows for foundations to be built that last, and spells a moment of nourishment and nurturing for you and yours. It’s time to snuggle in, reflect on the major steps you’ve taken and plant the final seeds for security that will take you into the end of the year. With Saturn, planet of adulting, going back for a brief moment into Capricorn (he was just in Aquarius, testing the waters of a new sign), the things we commit to now can bring us the most reward in the future!
It’ll be important this month, during all these shifts and changes, to watch what we say, how we say it, and the thought that provoke our words. With Mercury still Retrograde – turning Direct mid-month, we may still jumble things up and say what we don’t mean, getting all crabby and defensive in the process. Mercury also makes double-square to the wounded healer, Chiron and temperamental Mars, both in the warrior sign of Aries. This reflects a few deep wounds that we may be too afraid to speak of – but when we allow space for “weakness,” we might find our greatest strength! Let your vulnerability light the way this month, and allow the light of consciousness to lead instead of stabbing knives of accusation.
Finally, with the Sun’s opposition to Saturn, Jupiter, and Pluto before heading into shiny Leo, we may be feeling the temptation to buck against authority, and could even be facing real opposition from the external world, in the form of a person or situation. Be the grown-up, darling, and avoid that temptation to stoop to a level that’s just not you. That’s all.
