  • Podcast Interview: Andy Bowker

Andy Bowker has emerged from some very dark times and is determined to be the best version of himself, after years of trying to be someone he wasn’t. He is a keen writer, photographer, walker, traveller and musician, and believes that yoga is life changing.

He desires to see more people, particularly men, be real about how they feel, and understand that it is possible to face your demons without being annihilated in the process. He believes that you don’t have to be anywhere near perfect to be worthy of living your best life. He has had a lot of resistance to opening up and it has taken a lot to get him where he is today; honesty about where you are at is key.

Andy currently resides in Yorkshire, England on the edge of the beautiful Yorkshire Moors.

  • Podcast Interview: Melanie Saxton

Melanie Saxton is a book editor, ghostwriter, scriptwriter, contributing editor for five magazines, former editor in chief for two magazines, and a copyeditor for national and international businesses. She has always worked in the world of words and pursued an English degree in the process.

Now, the interesting thing about Melanie’s academic adventures is that it took her 29 years to earn that degree. She enrolled at University of Houston in 1980 and received her diploma in 2009. Yes, 29 years, holy smokes!

During these years she interviewed Barbara Bush, Roma Downey of Touched by and Angel and Son of God, Victoria Osteen, George Foreman, Senator Rick Santorum, Dave Coulier of Full House, A.J. Foyt, Roger Clemens, Frank Bielec of Trading Spaces, Melissa D’Arabian of the Food Network, Lyle Lovett, NASCAR sisters Kristen and Kendall Bumbera, Robert Griffin III, Jim Crane—owner of the Astros, Peter Ramsey—director of Guardians of the Galaxy, U.S. Representative Kevin Brady—chair of the Ways and Means Committee, and media personalities Deborah Duncan, Dominique Sachse, Gina Gaston, Frank Billingsley, and many more.

Then in her fifties, she was accepted into the master’s program at Sam Houston State University and is pursuing a much later-in-life graduate degree in digital media. She chose this degree to help her self-publishing author clients, but also to study screenwriting under John McLaughlin, the Hollywood scriptwriter of Black Swan, Hitchcock, and other notable movies. Melanie now adapts novels to screenplays in addition to ghostwriting and editing books.

The bottom line? You are never too old to finish a degree (or start a new degree) and can carve out a multi-faceted career in the process.

  • Podcast Interview: Erica Rose – From “The Bachelor” to Babies to the Bar Exam

While YOUR CHRON is based on documenting the legacies of non-celebrities, we have a real-life interview of one of Houston’s favorite television celebrities, Erica Rose, as she gives us a glimpse into her extraordinary “real world” and how she has found love, meaning and success in her everyday life.

Erica Rose is sworn in to be an attorney with Judge Mike Engelhart

Erica Rose is passionate about family law and child custody. A native Houstonian, she graduated from The University of Houston Law Center and attended college at Emory University with a joint degree in English and Creative writing and a minor in theater. She ran track in college and was a staff writer at the Emory Wheel and performed in many theatrical productions.

Thereafter, she went on to star on “The Bachelor” and many other subsequent television shows, including an appearance on “Ellen DeGeneres”.

During her time at the University of Houston Law Center, she was President of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund and chaired the Moore’s School of Music Gala. She was honored and a speaker alongside actress Christine Baranski for the Human Rights Gala. Erica completed a summer clerkship at the law office of Dan Cogdell, a nationally prominent White Collar Defense attorney.

After graduating from the University of Houston Law Center, Erica went on to earn her LLM degree in Entertainment and Media Law from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles.  There, she was editor of the award winning Biederman Entertainment Law Review.

While in Los Angeles, Erica clerked at The Rosen Law Group, a boutique entertainment Law Firm in Venice Beach, that represents a variety of entertainment law clients including production companies. Although she greatly enjoys the entertainment industry, she wanted to work more directly with people, and thus decided that family law was a natural fit.

She is a certified life coach from the Life Coach Institute of Orange County.  She specializes in empowerment coaching and dating and relationship coaching and has appeared on the TLC show “Love at First Kiss” as a dating and relationship coach.

Her life coach background makes her particularly compassionate regarding her family law clients. She returned to Houston in 2016, where she now lives with her husband Charles, two daughters Holland and Aspen, and their beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Sila.

Erica Rose with law firm partners Cindy Diggs and Judie Sadler

She is looking forward to a long and fruitful family law practice at Holmes, Diggs, and Sadler.

  • Podcast Interview: Cindi Rose

Award-winning Cindi Harwood Rose began snipping her way to stardom at the age of 16. Her career began at Astroworld, in Houston, which eventually took her to Disney World and Disneyland. Cindi is considered the world’s premier silhouette artist, and has sheared celebrities such as Elvis, Liberace, Mama Cass, Queen Elizabeth, Sammy Davis, Peter Fonda, Barbara Bush and Tony Bennett.

Cindi Harwood Rose is also an associate producer of the film, Silhouette Secrets.  Cindi Rose, Charles Burns, and Andi Reis (of the UK) chose the lost art of silhouette cutting including hightlighting how this art freed a slave who had worked with the famed Peale family using a machine to help them cut a silhouette. Charles and Cindi perform this lost and difficult art, of which there are most likely only 38 at most real silhouette artists alive in the world today, who can look and cut a profile without a sketch or light.  Watch the video on Amazon Prime.

Cindi is also a co-founder of the Rose Ribbon Foundation where she creates custom “Silhouettes For Survivors,” which are available for purchase. All Silhouette proceeds are dedicated to helping uninsured breast cancer survivors receive free reconstructive surgery.
