Hello - it's your messy friend <3 I have been off healing my heart for a little over a year. Today I share what brought me back to this podcast, what took me away from it, and why doing things just because you like to is such a worthwhile endeavor. I'm aiming to release weekly episodes from here on out - talk soon and take care, friends, and as always... thank you for being here :)
Hi friends,
In this quick episode, I elaborate on something I said in the last episode: "I don't let people talk to me like sh*t."

Hi my loves,
Today I'm coming at you live from the comfort of my bed, a little hungover after a fun night out with friends! I use being hungover as an example of how we can rewrite our narratives and break patterns when negative feelings, like shame, come up. When we start being present in our lives, we can notice these patterns. When we notice the pattern, we can intervene. When we intervene, we are caring for ourselves and building a relationship with ourselves. It's awesome! I empower you to step in and be your own cheerleader.
10/10 recommendation: immediately after finishing this episode, listen to "Cheerleader" by Omi and dance to it/sing it to yourself. "Oh I think that I found myself a cheerleader!" :)

Hello my messy friends :) I am back from an unintentional hiatus. This episode is mostly a recap of the last few weeks with some life lesson-themes sprinkled in.
I talk about how flying challenged me to trust myself and the evidence that negated the old, anxiety-driven stories I was telling myself. I also share about how the Universe has repeatedly forced me into focusing on what I can control, and letting go of the rest.
As always, I am grateful to you for listening and self conscious that this is a tangent with no through-line. HOWEVER - the evidence (you returning week after week, listening back to confirm, etc) would conclude that these episodes are generally very cohesive and that you enjoy them.
So, that is the story I will be telling myself as I post this and start watching The Bear right after (have you seen it yet?? I'm excited!)
xoxo
Your Messy Friend :)
Hello my messy friends! :) Back with part two of our Break Up Song story time, finishing off with Anna's and a round up of some of our all time favorite break up songs (some ironically, some not... some both.)
Anna's song is "Dynamite" by the incredible Sygrid.
What is YOUR break up song?
Beyond that, I invite you to ask yourself... what's a song that has mended or strengthened your relationship with yourself? Often on the other side of break ups is a reacquaintance-ing with ourselves. What song has brought you back to the shore of your own self?
Thank you for listening - I'm going to try and bring better sound quality and structure to our next Messy Bestie episode! But, you know to expect a certain amount of mess from this podcast by now ;)
Thanks for being here <3
xoxo

OMG! So my best friends and I were sitting on the living room floor talking about our breakup songs (you know, THE songs that inspired or totally captured our breakups) and I was like, "Should we record a podcast episode about this right now?" and they were like, "Yes." So, without further ado: Chloe Anne McElligott (follow her on Spotify, please) and Anna join me to share stories of break ups and the songs that accompanied them (Part 1).
We invite you to identify YOUR break up song(s) and add them to our Spotify Playlist - Your Messy Friends Breakup Songz. Here's the link:

(And if that doesn't work, just message me on Instagram @yourmessyfriend and I'll send you the link!)
Chloe's song: "Still" by Seinabo Sey // Kayleigh's song: "everything i wanted" by Billie Eilish.
Tune in for Part 2!

Hello my messy, exhausted, saucy, wonderful friends <3
In this episode, we consider the validity of the concept that there's nothing we can't do.... in a world that is totally out of our control (even if Tampax Pearl might argue otherwise). I share that I feel there is, in fact, SO MUCH I can't do, and what a relief it is to just accept that. I also illustrate my experience of burnout, known as the Burnout train to Burnout city (where I meet a judgmental judge who judges me for being there in the first place. Oh yeah. We lean way the hell in.)
As always, I hope something I've said resonates with you. If so, the next time YOU have reached burnout city, I hope you'll consider throwing a big tantrum, declaring how tired you are and simply quitting for the time being. You are worthy of that moment; go claim it.
Thank you so much for listening. Talk to you next time.

Hi my messy friends :)
Today I ponder what the world might look like if we could all just slow down, pause and enjoy the little things.
~*Happy Birthday*~ to my beautiful, strong Mama!
xoxo,
Your Messy Friend :)
Hello my beloved messy friends :) In today's episode, you get a good look at my inner critic. I process that in real time and share my thoughts on having boundaries with ourselves, taking action to support our #bestlife and how gratitude can turn a moment, day, life around.

Black women experience maternal mortality two to three times higher than that of white women in the US (CDC, April 2022).
