My guest today is someone I’ve dreamed of having on the podcast since its inception. Known as The Dope Doula on Instagram, she uses her platform to share all things birth. She is a prenatal and neonatal education and birth doula, as well as a Reproductive Justice Advocate. She is an informed, important and passionate member of the Birth Workers community, and I am so honored to have this opportunity to ask her a million questions and learn from her. My messy friends, please welcome to the show, Shakirah Hill Taylor!

Hi, welcome to the podcast... I'm Your Messy Friend :)
Today's guest is a natural storyteller and (lucky for us) has chosen to tell stories by way of performing and writing. As a writer, she is featured in publications such as Anti Racism Daily, Well and Good and Stylist Magazine. She also runs a blog and newsletter called Heart to Arts where she showcases Black owned businesses and diversity issues in the arts. All of these impressive accomplishments aside, my guest today is funny, quick-witted, kind and deeply intuitive. She not only plays a big role in Overactive, a series we are co-creating, but also in my life as a new friend and creative partner in crime. I am so freaking excited to welcome to the show, my dear friend, Shayna Conde!

Hi, welcome to the podcast... I'm Your Messy Friend :)
It's just you and me today, friends, as we delve into how you're (really) feeling, how our "Littles" might be feeling and what we'd do if imposter syndrome didn't exist. I share about my at home writing retreat and encourage you to create a little retreat of your own. Tune in for this and some messy feels as I yell at a passing motorcyclist, grapple with imperfection and get real about how we all can hold and feel so much at once.

Hi, welcome to the podcast... I'm Your Messy Friend :)
*Trigger Warning: Discussion of disordered eating, body image & weight.
*Apologies for the wonky sound on my end - please ignore and enjoy this emotional, informative and inspiring conversation!
My guest today is courageous... a leader on the ever-growing, no filter, raw emotion, real life human-side of social media, she challenges stigmas around mental health and eating disorders by documenting and sharing both her struggles and triumphs. On a journey to creating, embodying and celebrating her most whole, accepting and loving self, my guest inspires her followers, friends and family to do the same, just by being... Alejandra. I am so excited and honored to welcome to the show, Alejandra Parrilla!

Hi, welcome to the podcast... I'm Your Messy Friend :)
My messy friend du jour is Shani Nicole! A worldly woman of many, many talents, she is an artistic story teller, intuitive empath and humanist visionary, challenging the status quo through creative arts and creating healing and liberating solutions. Tune in for a discussion on how art, astrology and activism create the foundation for Shani's ever-evolving and expanding career. Stay for Shani's thorough and thoughtful breakdown of colonialism and racism, especially in the USA. She is a well of knowledge and experience, and I am so grateful for this opportunity to learn from her as she dives into these topics. Shani challenges us to think bigger, take time to think about what we've learned in the past year, and to (as we move from the age of Capricorn to Aquarius), transition "from me, to we." Welcome to the show, Shani!

Hi, welcome to the podcast... I'm Your Messy Friend :)
My very first guest once cut off all my hair, convinced me to dangle him out of a two story window and ran away with me on multiple occasions. He is the best dancer at any wedding, an avid Cheez-It lover turned vegan and an all around groovy and awesome human. Welcome to the show, my brother, Ryan Shuler! In this episode, Ryan and I discuss his "minor case of autism", the relationship between alcohol and anxiety, why it's important to have compassion for others and his wild, fantasy, imaginary dream life. Thank you, Ryan, for coming with your soul to bare and stories to share. (That rhymed!)
Ryan is a filmmaker, video editor and founder of the media platform It's Easy Being Green which is bringing everyday eco-friendly stories to everyday people. You can find him on Instagram at @ryan.shuler and on Twitter at @RyanEShuler, and follow It's Easy Being Green at @easygreen422 on both IG & Twitter.
Happy Birthday, Baby Sis! We love you!
