Did you know that grateful people are happy people and happy people tend to take responsibility for their lives and results! They are more aware of their blessings and what life delivers to them, the wonderful rewards that come with gratitude. And they make a practice of verbally or mentally giving thanks each and every day for the good things they have around them. Why is daily practice of gratitude so important -- well if you want to live a healthy and happy life then you better pay attention and take note!
In today’s podcast, I share why we must give thanks for who we are, where we are, what we have, our successes, and for the success of our friends & loved ones. This basic impression of feeling thankful can not only help us free ourselves from the stresses of life, and can also create a very powerful cycle of gratitude. When we are thankful, we find more reasons to be grateful, and we receive more good in our lives.
When you adopt what Dr Emmons a Positive Psychology Professor at the University of California at Davis, calls an “attitude of gratitude”, you receive a number of benefits. Esther aka Abraham Hicks keeps teaching these benefits too:
Stronger immune system
Improved ability to deal with stress and daily problems
More optimistic outlook
Improved avoidance of troubling physical symptoms
Boosted mental alertness
These findings have been backed up by other researchers like the University of Utah’s psychology professor Lisa Aspinwall.2 When you begin to focus your attention outside yourself, you see that there are many things to be grateful for each and every day.
HOW TO OPEN UP YOUR DOORS OF ABUNDANCE:
- Tell at least one person in your life each and every day that you are grateful for them and their actions.
- Turn something negative (the soup you ordered is cold) into something positive (you are so grateful to have food to eat).
- Learn to say “thank you” mentally or verbally several times a day, and your recognition of gratitude will instantly impact your health positively.
- Begin a daily gratitude journal. Set a goal e.g. to list 20 items a day. Some days it’ll be really hard, and you’ll list things like having a home or food on your gratitude list. This is what will open your eyes to how much you really have. If you can’t find 20 things make it at least 5.
