This episode opens with our CHIME reflection on gratitude, before flowing into a rich conversation with Jane Fujita about the building we gather in every day. Jane shares her deep appreciation for the thoughtful design of PS290 — from the light-filled entrance and soaring ceilings to the colorful tiles and open courtyards — and reminds us that great architecture is never accidental. It is a gift, and one that shapes how we learn, connect, and grow together. A timely reminder to pause and feel grateful not just for what happens within these walls, but for the walls themselves.

Happy to share another installment of the 'Your School Podcast' where we learn more about our community members and what makes us a community!
...I talk about the values of the month, I highlight some special moments from the past week and how I am thinking about June.
Not about your school, but about another school :) Principal Barr is the principal of the Children Lab School in Sunnyside Queens, and is one of my mentors. Her thinking about curriculum and culture is deeply inspiring and helpful to the work we do at PS 290!
March is about advocacy and scholars are building the skills and are immersed in experiences to do just that.
At the start I share some moments of fun math work during classroom visits and a look at how I approach conversations with scholars about harmful language. Then we move into a beautiful conversation with Ms. Jenn! Enjoy.
