Picking up on last weekend’s theme of our cultural degeneration, Bob talks about how many (so called) churches have been absent from the cultural and moral battle, and have actually surrendered and abdicated her God given role. The truth is many mainline churches are dying off, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Other churches, in an effort to keep “growing” are looking more like worldly Rock concerts than places of worship. Other churches are just not sure of how to share and relate the Good News in this rapidly changing world.
This weekend Bob takes a hard look at our world in our time. Never have we seen so much “strangeness” being touted as “normal.” Things that just 10 years ago would seem odd are being mainstreamed into our lives. The generation of teenage children today in the Western World is starting to come of age, and starting to take their place in this world. How have we prepared them for the realities of life? Many have no core values and value feelings over facts and emotion over truth. This is the generation that was raised “On-Line,” often with limited boundaries. Will there be a price to pay? Bob examines the dangers of our time on a hard hitting show.
This weekend bob continues where he left off last weekend, sharing some of his memories and life experiences, and some of the music he remembers from those times. This program is one that (if you’re a “Baby-boomer”) you will remember the music and times very well. On this program Bob shares some things from his life he has never shared in a public forum or on radio before. He shares one of the most difficult things that troubled him for many years, and how "Grace and Forgiveness" can make things right. In addition, Bob shares what he is thinking about FOR the future of this program, and the possible direction it may take in 2020.
As we enter this last weekend in January, Bob begins a journey through music. Many of us associate certain memories with certain songs. Depending on when you went to High School and College, you probably have many musical memories and favorites. On this weekend’s program and podcast, Bob shares a few snippets of his life from the fall of 1970 through the fall of 1973. Some of the music, if you’re old enough, you will remember well. Some of what Bob will share may be songs you remember, but haven’t heard in decades. We hope you enjoy this musical journey down memory lane.
What lens do you use to look at the world around you? To you see the world as it is? Or do you see the world as you would rather see it? One of the fastest declining attributes in our western world is the inability to look at the world with realistic eyes. We are losing with each passing generation, people that even have the ability of “Critical Thinking.” While it’s true that the eyes are “The Window to the Soul,” what we often see in many people are empty and hollow eyes.
Often times we are faced with a huge decision that can have an enormous impact on our lives. Sometimes we are faced with having to make a choice that could end up being a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity or a distraction from where we should be. Sometimes these choices sound good, but they can also have devastating consequences. How do we discern the difference? Bob takes on that topic as he shares those decisions he has had to face, and one he and his wife are trying to figure out now.
As we begin this first weekend of the year 2020, Bob reminisces of two different times, one almost 30 years ago, and the other almost 45 years ago. He shares how one chance meeting almost 45 years ago in a tiny drug store changed his life forever. He shares the story of how it also changed the entire path of his radio career. It’s a fascinating story of young love, hard work, and adapting. On the second part of the show, he shares some of the current things happening in their lives, as they prepare to head back to their home in Florida, plus Bob shares how 30 years ago he built a radio station in South Carolina, and how that radio station has come back into his life again. It’s a show about memories and opportunities taken and missed.
It’s a show worth hearing, no matter what stage of your life you are living.
In just a few days it will be the year 2020. What a year 2019 was, however, do you remember 20 years ago at celebrating the arrival of the Year 2000? How many of you remember all the excitement, but also all the fear of the “Y2K” computer bug? Bob shares a few thoughts on just how gullible many people were, and how many believed that at midnight jet airliners would fall from the sky, the lights and power would go out, people’s money in the bank would vanish, and our food chain would disappear. Countless people fell victim to all the fakes and frauds who were selling their “Y2K survival” and Y2K “Judgment Day” books. Many of those “prophets” are still selling fear today on the radio and TV. Also on the show, Bob shares his thoughts about the opportunities we have for the year 2020. It’s a very special program you need to hear and share with your family and friends.
This weekend is Bob’s annual Christmas Special for Your Weekend Show For the past few weeks Bob has been on a countdown to this special time of the year, sharing memories, but also sharing the hope that truly is the “Reason for the Season,” and what the true meaning of Christmas is all about. This weekend Bob shares some memories of Christmas from years ago in music and thoughts. We hope this program will bring you Peace, Joy, Hope, and Blessings.
Next weekend Bob will close out the year with some memories of a few of the past year’s programs, and share what the future holds for the program, and for Bob’s work and ministry.
With Christmas only about a week and a half away, many people will find this time of the year very difficult. For some, it may because of the loss of a loved one. For others, perhaps work and responsibilities will make it impossible to be with family and friends. Maybe we have unrealistic expectations, or the family does not appreciate all your efforts. Whatever the reason, many people will be suffering “The Holiday Blues.” This weekend Bob reaches out to a friend of his who is a clinical psychologist to share some thoughts on overcoming those difficult feelings. Maybe it’s not a hard time for you, but perhaps for a close family member or friend. This program will give you some insight.
