You're Wrong

In a slight variation from the previous Pick a Trailer episode, Chris, Luciano, Matt and Spencer each picked a trailer for an upcoming game for which they had thoughts about – specifically, God of War: Ragnarok, New World, Riders Republic and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands – and had the other 3 hosts watch as well, so that they could all comment on it.

Also in slight variation from the previous Pick a Trailer episode, while the insanity was still pretty much all there (to no-one's surprise), at least the levels of coherence were a lot higher (which, to be fair, was a very low bar to clear). We also learned that some of our hosts' video-game preferences are... conflicting? Yeah... let's go with "conflicting". 😶

This week, our hosts decided to try their hand at reviewing a movie again. However, they weren't satisfied with their previous format, so they came up with something a bit off the beaten path, as far as movie review structures go.

Unfortunately (for them), they chose to do so with The Green Knight, and let me tell ya: them nerds got angry. I mean, yeah, this movie is a hot mess, but sheesh, it was like someone pissed in their Wheaties or something.

You're Wrong is taking a break this week (for reasons you'll need to listen to this episode to find out 😉), but instead of just skipping an episode, we've decided to release something Matt and Luciano recorded a while ago as a bonus episode, just to keep the momentum going.

During the Disney vs. Star Wars season, they decided to watch Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker together for a second time (since they watched it together the first time as well) instead of separately, as they usually do for movie reviews. They figured sharing the pain would lessen it (spoiler alert: it actually did!), and they figured it'd be a fun experience for all of you to hear their caustic commentary on that clusterfuck of a movie in real time, in case you ever decided to torture yourselves and watch it again.

This week's Battle Royale is a 3-way (Spencer-less 😓) brawl for the position of top dog among... robots? Androids? Sentient humanoid machines? It's one of those. Or all of those. Or something in between.

Anyway, once again making use of Matt's world-renowned Totally Original Hypothetical Scenario Generator™, each host will try to prove why their pick is the best of the best among... *sigh* fine... robodroids (it feels icky agreeing with the idiot that writes the title and summary, not gonna lie).

As anyone who's watched Terminator 2: Judgment Day can attest, the T-1000 wasn't ultimately a very effective villain. As advanced a Terminator model as it was, it ended up defeated by a group consisting of a whiny, angsty teenager, a badass mom and an old and clunky T-800 with an cheap knock-off of Data's emotion chip.

So, in the interest of fulfilling its admittedly great potential, it decided it would need a mentor. But who should he pick? Who would be the best fit to serve as a guide in the T-1000's villainous journey? To answer these questions, it reached out far and wide to the most notorious and feared villains of all time, looking to find a suitable instructor in the ways of evil.

After a lenghty, American Idol-style selection process – which was not recorded in any way because... reasons –, only 3 villains remained. To ensure its final pick would be as unbiased as possible, it decided the best format for the selection process would be a weird, inverted, "speed blind dating" version of The Apprentice, where these esteemed and illustrious villains would need to showcase their evildoing skills as they compete for a chance to become its mentor. Obviously.

And this time, it decided it should record it. As a podcast episode. Also because reasons. Anyway, enjoy! 😆

This week, You're Wrong is proud to bring you its first ever Battle Royale*!

Chris, Luciano and Spencer each picked a starship; Matt created a series of hypothetical (and completely original) scenarios to put those starships on. Since Matt came up with the scenarios, the other hosts picked a ship for him to champion, and only told him which one it was right before the battle ensued. Each host then explained, with HARD LOGIC and COLD FACTS why his ship was the obvious best choice for completing each of the scenarios.

Yeeeeeeeah... not gonna lie, this one went off the rails pretty much right from the get-go. 😆

* Yes, yes... I know what a battle royale actually is, and no, what I described isn't it. Sue me.
