For the 17th episode of SKANDL TALKS we had the pleasure of welcoming publisher and co-owner of MENDO - Gunifort Uwambaga - to the studio! We learned about his journey from starting as a stock boy to becoming co-owner, the process of making and publishing books, as well as the rise of the African creative scene to the world stage. For our 7th set we had the honor of giving platform to one of Amsterdam’s finest - @bnnyhunna 💥 Coming off his latest contribution as producer on the So So Lobi 2 project, Benny continues to ride the good energy wave, delivering a superb hiphop set, embellished with freestyle elements on the keys. It was major fun watching him perform, so make sure to give this one a listen! 💫

It’s time for the 6th DJ of our collaboration, and it’s none other than JULES. He came in very confident and brought the most sick tunes with him... Varying from summery Caribbean beats to the slickest hip-hop bangers. JULES is not only a talented DJ, but also makes his own beats and raps every now and then. He recently released new tracks and can be heard in this mix, so make sure to be ready!

He brought a lot of good energy to the decks, and delivered a set full of UK bangers, including drill, grime, and several of his own edits. The fourth DJ of the collab is the one and only SOJUJU. Being a scene vet, she is an extremely versatile selector, and is able to genre blend perfectly. For her set at YUSU she played a beautifully mixed set of hiphop, house, and lounge tunes - exactly the right kind of vibes for days like these. Third DJ is Amsterdam based DJ Camtrao. Do you recognize him from his set at Cereal & Chill? This is his second set for Skandl Music and it is a bangerrrr again! He is not only a really experienced DJ, but also produces the sickest edits. He just released his newest edit pack, so after listening to this mix have a listen to his edits!

For the second set of our collab we were graced by the talented QUINNY J. He delivered a banging set of songs that he picked from a diverse range of genres, including HipHop, soul, trap, oldschool, and future beats. First up is Rotterdam based DJ S!RENE, who made the trip out to AMS to deliver us a smooth set composed of tunes ranging from hiphop, R&B, soul, and a little bit of funk to tie it all together. Make sure to give this one a listen, and stay safe out there!

Since the beginning of the corona crisis, we have been working on new collaborations, so that everyone can listen to the best new music from home. That is why we have put our heads together with Unwise to cook up something special. A total of eight DJs came by the Chicago Social Club to spin their current favourites.  

For the 7th and final set of our UNWISE collaboration we had the pleasure of inviting JOSIAS up behind the decks to spin some of his recent favourites. Being a producer, his set is carefully curated with hip hop, afro, and r&b tubes, as well as some of his own edits. Blast this one and enjoy - we definitely did!
