A single year would pass and ibn Masood (ra) would not narrate hadith, he was relcunctant to relate back to The Messnger ﷺ.

Ibn Masood (ra) would write hadith as would other companions, years later theses were documented in the famous compilations of hadith.

Singing makes hypocrisy sprout just as water makes a plant sprout (Baihaqi).

Verily Zhikir of Allah SWT make faith grow in the heart just as water makes a plant grow.

Ibn Qayum

A man can have the signs of dignity, intellect and the beauty of the quran, but that can change when one resorts to music.

Ibn Taymiah 

The ones who frequently listen to poetry will have a diminished desire to listen to the Quran.

The ones who frequently visit shrines will be void of love for the Hajj jounrey to the House... (Ahmad).

Ibn Ummi Abd (ra) is with The Messenger ﷺ whilst Surah 77 is revealed at Minaa -Hajj site (Bukhari).

Ibn Masood (ra) falls poorly during old age.

Allah SWT says, By My Honour & Glory, I SWT do not take out anybody from the world whom I SWT intend to forgive till I SWT compensate for each of his sins which hangs on his neck by illness in his body AND Scarcity of Provisions (Razeen).

Ibn Masood (ra) is one described as dignified (Surah 25 v72).

Ghinaa is defined as singing, rhyming through poetry with or without music.

The Remembrance of Allah SWT by Ibn Ummi Abd (ra).

Whoever is miserly... cannot bear the night prayer then let them say.. the third kalima in abundance (Ahmad).

In another similar report & to plant palm trees in paradise, recite Subhanallahi wa bihamdihi (Tabarani).

'Seek your heart 3 times when you listen to the Quran, in Zhikir gatherings and in times of solitude... if you don't find your heart at these times then ask Allah SWT to grant you a heart...' (Al Fawaaid).

'I prefer Zhikir than providing horses for campaigns (Tabarani).'

'The one who remembers Allah SWT amongst the heedless is like a lamp in a dark house.

... one sees there abode in paradise during their lifetime

... is granted light for every hair of his body on The Last Day.'

'The gatherings of Zhikir are the life of knowledge and create humility in the heart (Kanzal Ummal).'

Umar (ra) advances over his peers due to his ascestism.

Castrate by Fasting, Travel by endurance in campaigns and practice Monasticism by praying and waiting for the next.
