Through many sports ministries YWAM has served the nations. We are seeing a pioneering movement expanding globally, with new sports initiatives in Bangladesh and Nepal, and soccer academies in Tanzania, Costa Rica, Lebanon, and countries across Africa, the Americas, and Europe.

In Hollywood and other places where movies are made, content creators face temptations and opportunities that have far-reaching consequences. David Cunningham, son of YWAM’s founders Loren and Darlene Cunningham, and a director of movies for Fox, Disney, and ABC, says, “I’m called to be a filmmaker, and what does that look like now, today? You find yourself on your knees a lot, asking, trusting.”

In the fifth year of ongoing warfare in Ukraine, what began as a plan for a quick three-day incursion and an end to Ukrainian independence has escalated into an East/West conflict not easily or quickly resolved. “Ukraine” means “border,” and it has been that for centuries. What we called the Iron Curtain has been the division between the East and West since the Mongol and Tatar invasions in the 1200s. This is a spiritual battle that the Bible tells us about: we fight not against flesh and blood but principalities and powers in high places. This battle must be fought with prayer, lots of prayer. Please pray for Ukraine right now and also on August 13, the prayer day for YWAM’s prayer initiative called The Invitation.

Please pray for Bangladesh, a nation of 177 million people, the fourth-largest Muslim population in the world, and home to a movement of young disciples of Jesus equipped with the love of God and faith to move mountains. Though Christians make up only 0.5 percent of the population the church has impacted the nation through education, health care and serving the poor.

Millions of people are still waiting to hear God speak their language. Not just any language but the one they dream in, the one they pray in, and the one that speaks to their heart. According to YWAM Morelia, of the more than 7,000 languages in the world, less than half have even a portion of Scripture translated. Fewer than 1,000 have the full Bible.

For many, the barrier is even deeper. A large part of the world’s population either cannot read or prefers to learn through hearing. Oral Mother Tongue translation is helping these people. Scriptures are translated and recorded in the heart language of a people group, by local speakers, for their own communities. And when they hear, something shifts. As Romans 10:17 says, “Faith comes from hearing the message.”

Young believers in Jesus in the UK, USA, New Zealand, and other countries are coming back to church, reading their Bibles, and getting more involved in volunteer work. That is the finding of numerous recent studies, including from the Bible Society in the UK (who have recently revised their 2024 findings), Barna in the USA, and the Baptist church in New Zealand. Some have called this trend The Quiet Revival.

This is exciting news for YWAM as we seek to inspire and guide young people to fulfill the Great Commission. Please take a moment right now to pray for this renewed interest in Jesus among youth and for YWAM’s efforts to lead many into mission.

Greenland is currently receiving more attention than it has had in the past ten years combined. Greenland is the largest island in the world and has around 56,000 inhabitants. In the 1980s and 1990s YWAM ran Discipleship Training Schools (DTS) and King’s Kids programs in Greenland but since then there hasn’t been a permanent YWAM presence in Greenland. Greenland’s spiritual condition has shifted over the years. In the late 1990’s and early 2000’s there was a great surge of Greenlanders turning to God. There was joy and emotional healing all over the island, and many of these Greenlanders are still following the Lord. The need now is a greater focus on this generation of youth. They need to be evangelized and offered a place to be discipled in following Jesus. This kind of ministry is what YWAM is called to. We believe it is time for us to have DTSes and other ministries again in Greenland. Pray with us for Greenland as we move forward with this refreshed vision.

Mongolia has a young church history of only 35 years. Despite its youth, churches have been planted throughout the country and have grown into a vibrant body of Christ. Mongolia has also become a missionary-sending nation, with a vision to reach all nations. However, the majority of the population still follows Tibetan Buddhism, with only 1.4 percent identifying as followers of Jesus. Thankfully, Mongolia is entering a great harvest season with many opportunities to share the gospel.

The people of Iran, numbering approximately 92.8 million, are facing a national crisis. Protests about runaway inflation and lack of freedom have been met by a brutal crackdown that has reportedly resulted in the deaths of an estimated 5,000 people and the detention of many more.

Although the state claims that more than 90 percent of Iranians are Shia Muslims, independent surveys suggest a very different reality: only about 40 percent identify as Muslim, 32 percent report having no religion, and roughly 8 percent identify as atheists. Apostasy laws criminalize conversion from Islam—punishable by death—yet despite this, underground Christian communities are estimated to number between one and two million believers.

For more than thirty years, the YWAM-birthed prayer movement called 30 Days of Prayer for the Muslim World has sought to educate, enable and encourage Christians worldwide to pray for Muslim peoples as an act of love. And God has heard our prayers.

The focus of the 2026 guide is on Muslim people, from whom there are now radiant believers, sharing the gospel with their own or nearby Muslim people groups. We can celebrate that bringing the good news to Muslims is not just something done by foreigners from faraway countries; it is now the believers from Muslim backgrounds themselves who are key to transformation in their countries.
