  • Ep 5.13 - In the Mouth of Madness

The Dark Half meets From Beyond?
Garth Marenghi's Dark Place meets Stranger Than Fiction?
We're not sure, but we are fans of this homage to horror fiction with heavy nods to Lovecraft and jabs at Stephen King.
And naturally we end up discussing the 13th amendment.

  • Ep 5.12 - Still Crazy

Real quick: here's a move from the late 90's about a band that was big in the 70's mounting a reunion tour and having to face some demons in the process.
Stephen Rea, Bill "knuckles" Nighy, Billy Connolly, Jimmy Nail and some other bastards you probably won't know.

  • Ep 5.11 - The Dream Team

an unfulfilled promise, potential left on the table, a dream left to die, a film that could have soared...

  • Ep 5.10 - Psycho Cop

Z almost fell asleep, Keith was inspired by the soundtrack, we both were confused.

Join us and these surprisingly unhorny teens for a not very gorey weekend in the woods with a lot of beer, a lot of soup, and a redundant villain.

  • Ep 5.08 - Waiting to Exhale

Based on the novel of the same name, Waiting to Exhale (1995) follows the romantic travails of four Black women in Scottsdale, AZ. Sporting a powerhouse lead ensemble with Angela Bassett, Whitney Houston, Loretta Devine and Lela Rochon and impressive supporting work from the likes of Michael Beech, Mykelti Williams, Dennis Haysbert and Gregory Hines to name but a few. It has its moments, to be sure.

  • Ep 5.06 - Beverly Hills Cop

This is one we debated about watching for this month.

Mostly we end up speculating on Bronson Pinchot's hobbies.

  • Ep 5.05 - A Rage in Harlem

    Welcome, dear listener, to February.

We are starting things of with a film neither of us had encountered before, A Rage in Harlem (1991). Loosely based on the Chester Himes novel of the same name and directed by Bill Duke, it's a love story of sorts, a heist movie, a buddy comedy, and other stuff too!
    Thoroughly enjoyable throughout.

  • Ep 5.04 - True Lies (detected)

Wrapping on Jameuary we revisit the 90's classic romcom/Western military hegemony, True Lies (1994). Just a lot of misogyny masquerading as romance and uh i guess... spycraft? this film wastes so much of the talents on hand.

To lighten the mood, we touch on such topics as legislative applications of religious doctrine, abuse on set, tales in ID-ing, plus we revisit the Legend of the Sonny Edits.

    Anyway, see you in February!
