  • Ep 4.45 - The Addiction (failed metaphor = farce)

    Blah!

Our second entry for Nosferatu November is 1995's The Addiction.
From the same writer/director team that brought you The King of New York comes this b&w philosophical wank--I mean meditation on the nature of man's relationship to addiction.
    Only not really.
Along the way we weigh in on internalized victim blaming, Natalie Wynn, and I Shot Andy Warhol (again).
    Your welcome (again).

  • Ep 4.44 - The Lost Boys [boy, what a lost opportunity]

Welcome, creatures of the night, to Nosferatu November!
We begin with The Lost Boys (1987).
In this episode we question whether it's Schumacher movies or vampires that are inevitably disappointing? Plus we reminisce about video rental stores and can't help but touch upon the history of the Coreys.
Synergistically, on the same day we finished editing this ep, Minty Comedic Arts published a video about the version of The Lost Boys that never was. Check it out here. Tell'm Z & Keith sent ya.

But we are ending on a favorite: Event Horizon (1997)
One of the few films in our estimation to successfully blend horror and scifi (especially post- Alien) without sacrificing one or the other.  And as we discovered, a film that benefits from multiple viewings. We share what attracted us to this movie in the first place and what was new to our noiticing on this watchthrough.
Plus Z enumerates the souls they saved.

!and we bring you yet another made-for-TV adaptation of a Stephen King piece that you've probably never heard of. While not the best thing you've seen, nor even of this micro-genre, it avoids some of the pitfalls and cliches of many of its cellmates. With risky sound design, impressive sfx and interesting reveals, this one might just be worth your time.

This week we bring you a real treat & no tricks!

We were delighted by this movie that we knew next to nothing about. 1986's Trick or Treat (aka Ragman, aka, Death at 33 RPM) serves Faustian themes vs the PMRC, Skippy meets Satanic panic. Great effects and solid performances allows this film to punch above its weight.

  • Ep 4.39 - Clockwatchers (Season of the Temp)

What a day! But it's finally time to punch out.

We've made it to the end of a month of films loosely about working.
And what a high note to end on!
Clockwatchers (1997) is one of those nearly forgotten gems of 90's indie filmmaking. Amazing cast, great dialogue, beautifully shot and covering a subject matter from a fresh perspective, i.e., the sweet-spot.

  • Ep 4.38 - Lawn Dogs (Little Red Riding Mower)

Grass and yard care is very important to us here at Z and Keith Watched A Movie, that's why we've partnered with this film to bring our listeners the best in lawn representation.

  • Ep 4.37 - Working Girl (She-wolf of Wall St/Tess around and find out)

Is it the late '80's sequel to 9 to 5?
Is it the sassy sister film to Die Hard?
Is it an accurate representation of Long Island aesthetics of the day?
These and many other questions are left unanswered as we discuss Working Girl (1988).
On our second viewing we noticed some nuance to the messaging we had missed on our first go (pre-pod). Plus Z attempts to describe some of the intricacies of Shawnee language.
    Feel the burn!

  • Ep 4.36 - Men at Work (Two trashmen = no one's treasure)

Emilio and Charlie team up to share zero chemistry in this series of events that rarely have meaning or consequences.

Picture Weekend at Bernie's without the raw animal charm of Silverman and McCarthy. Imagine every 80's trope (including passing a dead guy off as just really inebriated) presumed dead, shoved into an oil drum, sealed improperly and dumped into the cinematic water supply.
