Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 1 Peter 5:5
5. Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7. Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Your dressing says a lot about you. Today's memory verse says one should be clothed in humility. Hence, humility is like a garment. One reason we must wear humility is to receive grace from God; grace is for everyone (Titus 2:11 ) but there is a special grace that only the humble can get from God. James 4:6 says:
*“But He giveth more grace. Wherefore He saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble".*
Another reason you must be clothed in humility is to have authority over the devil because he flees when he is resisted by the humble. James 4:7 says:
*“Submit yourself therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you".*
Thus, for you to resist the devil, you need to submit yourself to God. This is what Jesus did when He left His glory in heaven to die on the cross in order to restore the relationship between man and God. If you find it difficult to listen to advice, greet some people because you feel they are lower in status, respect elders, et cetera, you might be clothed in pride. Examine yourself today.
You are either clothed in humility or pride.
