First Stand-Up

Chris invited Brittany to do a stand-up comedy after her first show.

Phoenix to LA Comedy

Brittany always wanted to go to LA as she always knew that would be the end game for her, and she was ready for change.

Brittany shared it doesn't matter how well-connected people are. In LA, people start from the bottom.

She felt that she was like a little fish in a bigger pond. But Brittany kept on working her way up from the bottom.

Hoarding Tendencies

She thinks that her hoarding habit stems from her family. Whenever Brittany was ready to throw things away, her mom was always there to stop her.

Kinds of Shows

Brittany was doing most of her shows at many bars, and the first show she had was at Woodshed and continuing after three years.

Passion and Interest

Brittany felt that hosting was really for her. She thinks that hosting is fun compared to a headliner and has a different energy. She finds joy when she keeps the crowd alive and keeps them going.

Brittany attended a backyard stand-up for a whole family where she spent 40 minutes making fun of them and spilling her actual material. The family thanked her for an awesome performance.

Type of Comedy

Brittany shared about how she doesn't mind the travel to her work as she loves it. She said she loves sharing her jokes to different states and learning about different cultures along the way. Brittany also felt like a rockstar as she travels around places for your stand-up shows.

As Brittany was traveling, she experienced how Airbnb's work. Somehow, she experienced a little bit of awkwardness because her room doesn't have a lock, and she was with the house owner.

Uber Driver as Stand-up Comedians

Brittany uses Uber to get to her work, and when she tells people that she is a comedian, she often hears wacky jokes from the drivers.

A Uber driver also offered weeds to Brittany when she got inside the car, and she definitely gave him five stars review.

Social Media

Brittany felt like a celebrity whenever she uses TikTok.

Brittany shared how it's tricky to answer if someone is into social media. Regardless, she works hard when it comes to her social media channels.

Reality Shows

Brittany does quizzes on every ending of bachelor shows, and she continuously tries to build a good question that would catch the public's interest.

On one of her quizzes, she made a quiz about a show's current episode that asks who Blake will pick between Asia and Hannah. She knew that she made it as a quizzer when Blake answered her difficult question.

She was very open to reality TV shows and has seen different varieties of them.

Acting

For Brittany, she would love to act and get the opportunity to join the Bachelor show. However, she is afraid not to have the editing rights, especially when she says something inappropriate.

She said that she doesn't have the emotional balance between handling 25 men in the Bachelor's show if she could be the bachelorette. She joked that the guys would leave because she might be too clingy.

She concluded that she'd love to do something where she could do a lot of different reality shows as a comedian.

In this episode, we’ve invited Cara Nicole, mostly known on social media as AZ Powergirl. She is a cosplayer, costume designer and model. Cara is also a spokesperson, actress, comic book writer, editor, colorist as well as co-founder and co-owner of 183 Degree Studio. Today, Cara shares about marketing, Kickstarters, and how to make money online nowadays.

Being Social Nowadays

With everything being online now, of course, for an entertainer like Cara Nicole, she also took to online. Like how comedy is put out in public, she is doing comedy shows with other people and put in the works, where they sell tickets and take tips. She makes a bit of money through commercials and other stuff.

Crowdfunding

Having a Kickstarter is not about needing other people’s money. It's about advertising, giving your audience the opportunity to pre-order and get special things that regular people aren't going to get. Crowdfunding is like a form of marketing campaign. It’s also giving people the opportunity to get things that nobody else is going to have access to, because it will only be offered through Kickstarter or other types of crowdfunding.

New Book

With years of experience, Cara is writing a book. It talks about the business side, about the fun side, and the social side and other topics. But what’s different about her books is that she combined it with a pin-up book.

The books will have varying covers, as well as a blank sketch cover where an artist can draw anything on it.

The Future

Cara will be following up her first book, Fire Bitch, published last year, with Fire Bitch 2. After that will be 2021 calendar. There is also Fire Bitch 3 in the works, and another project which is Unstable Frequencies.

Advertising

Cara shares that Facebook is a great place to be advertising right now. Same with Google ads, their prices are going down because of large companies that are cutting back. It’s a great opportunity for smaller companies to come in and run their ads.

DIY Conventions

Before the pandemic, Cara was all over the world attending conventions and other events. With current situations and because she has always been interactive with people, she instead goes live on Facebook. She calls it Coffee with Cara, where she talks to her audience while drinking her coffee in a giant mason jar.

Future of Fire Bitch

Cara shared that she has sent her work, Fire Bitch, to John Semper, screenwriter, producer and story editor with numerous credits in animation for television. The screenwriter is interested in making Fire Bitch into animation. Cara says it still depends, the deal would have to be right for her to give up Fire Bitch, since she really worked hard in creating it.

Advice for starting a Kickstarter

For the people that are hesitant to start a Kickstarter for their projects, Cara says to not be afraid to do it. There will be people that will want to support you. If you don’t take it, then someone else will, and not to feel bad that people are spending their money on you.
