This set was recorded live on September 6th, 2020 at a socially distancing responsible party slightly south of Tahoe City, CA on what would have been "Burn Night" if Black Rock City, NV would have been built this year.
The Coronavirus pandemic has created a myriad of challenges that we are all facing, and navigating, and experiencing individually and collectively. These are truly interesting times, and I think it's important to recognize the impact that this period of time is imposing on us all... we're a social bunch, and we all need our people.
The word "Human" is defined as:
"Relating to or characteristic of people or human beings"
Community is important, especially now... We've all been instructed to be "socially distant" to stop the spread of the coronavirus and it's the responsible thing to do. We need to practice safeguards and use our best judgement, but the mental health impact of remaining socially distant also takes its toll on our quality of life. To be human, is to have "your people", and being socially distant infringes on what it means to be human... they say it takes a village to raise a child... and the "village" is a community that shares a common goal of developing, surviving, existing, progressing and evolving. Community is intrinsic in us as humans, and it is contradictory to our social identity for us to be divided. We need each other to be human.
I hope you're all taking time to nurture the things that make us human, not only for yourself, but for those you care about, too. Together, we will prevail, and even though we're divided and sometimes feel very alone, please know that you are not alone. Perhaps the single most important thing that we can do right now is to cultivate a strong community foundation, locally, nationally, and globally... and it's my hope that we'll all emerge from this pandemic stronger, wiser, and more human than ever before.
To quote Bill & Ted: "Be excellent to each other and party-on dudes!"
And for those of you who were there for this set (you know who you are), I'm still gushing with how amazing each and every one of you are. Much love!
