Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 57.

I know there may be some of you who don’t understand the Black Lives Matter movement, who don’t see how racism still exists today, or don’t realize how powerful your words… or your silence… can be when it comes to today’s current events. I hope you’ll listen to this episode with open ears and an open heart.

    - What white women can do to support Black men
    - What it’s like as a Black man growing up with mostly white friends in the South
    - Why it’s important for white people to see color
    - How to our own anti-racist work and avoid burdening our Black friends with white guilt
To support Leo and thank him for his generosity in sharing his wisdom and experiences, make sure you check out Black Dude White Dude podcast, especially the episode In Light of George Floyd.

  • 055. Take a Pause for an Important Cause
I’ll be honest. I have so many thoughts and feelings, words I want to say about the current state of racism in our country. When I get passionate, I share. It’s just what I do.
But instead of posting a new Zimmerman Podcast episode today, where I’d inevitably let my passion and desire to empower and enact change run the conversation, I’m going to quiet my own voice and instead share the podcasts, resources, and actions that have been helpful as I begin the long overdue
work of supporting the Black Lives Matter cause.
The Black Dude White Dude Podcast, specifically the episode In Light of George Floyd.

    Therapy for Black Girls Podcast

Sign the petition for Justice for Breonna Taylor at change.org
Advocate for all major retailers to devote 15% of shelf space to Black-owned businesses at www.15percentpledge.org.
Hire Black employees, buy from Black educators, collect books with Black characters, get your children Black dolls from Black-owned shops, watch movies with Black leads, and talk about race in your home.
We don’t have to be perfect, but we do have to act, speak, and listen the best ways we know how. Let’s get to work!

  • 054. How to Cultivate Peace with Household Ceremonies
Today, I’m talking about the importance of cultivating peace with household ceremonies.
I’ve spent a good chunk of my career creating beautiful spaces for events and weddings. I carefully arranged flower bouquets and fiddled with every flower, down to the last ranunculus, knowing that small details have a big impact when it comes to sacred experiences like weddings.
These days, I apply this same care and intentionality to my own home and life.
Today, I’m sharing what I’ve been doing to cultivate peace in my home with daily ceremonies!
    Episode 54 Topics:
    - How taking care of my home environment can be a blessing, not a chore
    - How to take back control over your routines
    - How I use Spotify to transition seamlessly through my day
    - Why I LOVE waking up at 4:30 am after years of “not being a morning person”
