  • In the Meantime, Part 12: The Conclusion (Rev. 22:21; John 16:33)

by Elder Buddy Abernathy (preached on February 4, 2026)

Today’s sermon concludes Elder Buddy Abernathy’s years-long exposition of the Book of Revelation. In coming to the end of Revelation, Bro. Buddy takes us back to a statement of Jesus in the Gospel of John which summarizes this Book very well: “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33). Ultimately, this last book of the Bible has shown us that we shall indeed have tribulation in the world, but as the last verse demonstrates to us, Jesus Christ has overcome the world! Join us today for the uplifting conclusion to the Book of Revelation.

  • In the Meantime, Part 8: Them That Are Without (Rev. 22:15)

by Elder Buddy Abernathy (preached on December 17, 2025

In the first half of this sermon, Elder Buddy Abernathy focused on the blessings set forth in verse 14 of Revelation 22. In the conclusion of the message, he tells us about “them that are without” – i.e., those who are outside the church and not part of the faithful and obedient children of God. We don’t want the wicked things of the world in our church! And those who are “without” – those on the outside of the church – can cause us all kinds of problems. Join us today for the conclusion of this sermon about the troublesome people we have to deal with in the world.

  • In the Meantime, Part 7: Accessing the Tree of Life (Rev. 22:14-15)

by Elder Buddy Abernathy (preached on December 17, 2025)

The message today is the first half of a sermon preached by Elder Buddy Abernathy in our series on Revelation. In this sermon, he contrasts what we find within the church with those things we experience outside the church. In this first half of the message, he first reminds us that, although the tree of life is in heaven, we can access it here and now. The message in these verses is that obedience allows us to experience spiritual blessings. In particular, these blessings are experienced in the community of the church. Join us today for the first half of this sermon where we learn about accessing the tree of life.

  • In the Meantime, Part 5: Rewarded According to Works (Rev. 22:12)

by Elder Buddy Abernathy (preached on November 12, 2025)

In verse 12 of Revelation 22, Jesus makes the statement to John, “My reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” Does this mean that salvation is by works instead of by grace? The answer is a resounding “no’! Rather, this statement by Christ is a statement about the changed nature of God’s people rather than about their behavior at any given time. Any other interpretation flies in the face of the teaching of salvation by grace. Join us today as Elder Buddy Abernathy rightly divides this verse by reviewing it in its context and comparing Scripture with Scripture.

  • In the Meantime, Part 4: Behold, I Come Quickly (Rev. 22:12)

by Elder Buddy Abernathy (preached on November 12, 2025)

As we continue in the Book of Revelation, we come to a phrase that Elder Buddy Abernathy has taught us about before: “Behold, I come quickly.” The point has been made already that, at least from our perspective, the term “quickly” doesn’t necessarily mean “soon,” but it really means “suddenly.” When the Lord returns, it will be “suddenly.” But from God’s perspective, it means BOTH “suddenly” AND “soon.” In more than one place in Scripture, we are taught that a day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as a day. This means that from God’s perspective, it’s only been two days since the resurrection of Christ. Join us today as Bro. Buddy shows us how time does not mean the same to God as it does to us.
