  • In the Meantime, Part 3: The Time Is At Hand (cont.) (Rev. 22:10-12)

by Elder Buddy Abernathy (preached on November 5, 2025)

As we saw in the first half of this sermon, the phrase “the time is at hand” does not necessarily mean soon to happen, but rather certain to happen and to happen quickly. There is a strong sense in which the coming of the Lord is always imminent, and “at hand”! The ideas of the religious world today regarding the end times is more distraction and deception than anything else. As God’s children, we are to be of the mindset that Christ may come back at any minute! Join us today for the conclusion of this sermon by Elder Buddy Abernathy.

  • In the Meantime, Part 2: The Time Is At Hand (Rev. 22:10-12)

by Elder Buddy Abernathy (preached on November 5, 2025)

As we continue in the last chapter of Revelation, we find an interesting saying: “Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book.” In some cases, the Lord has told his servants to “seal up” the sayings; but now He instructs John NOT to seal it up, but to broadcast it! The reason for this is that “the time is at hand.” When we hear this phrase, we think of something that is imminent or soon to happen. However, this phrase in Scripture doesn’t necessarily mean “right away,” but it means something that is certain to happen, and to happen in a certain way: it is to happen “quickly.” Join us today for the first half of this sermon by Elder Buddy Abernathy.

  • In the Meantime, Part 1: The Urgency of Jesus’ Second Coming (Rev. 22:6-9)

by Elder Buddy Abernathy (preached on October 15, 2025)

In the sermon today, we move into the final subdivision of the Book of Revelation, which I have entitled, “In the Meantime.” This sermon is a little shorter than usual, because it is the last half of a sermon where Elder Buddy Abernathy finished up the previous subdivision of Revelation and then moved on into this last portion, which focuses on the last verses of the Bible. These verses that we deal with today return our focus to our earthly experience instead of a heavenly vision. They teach us what we should be focusing on “in the meantime,”, while we wait for the return of our Lord. This is a sort of “epilogue” to the Book of Revelation, and in this portion of Scripture we are reminded of the urgency of the Second Coming of Christ. The Lord is telling us in these verses that the focus of the New Testament church ought to be that Jesus is coming back to take us home! In most eschatological teaching today, we are told that certain events must occur before Jesus comes again. But the Bible teaching is that Jesus is coming quickly, and we ought to be looking for and hasting the day of the Lord! Join us today as we move into this epilogue of Revelation and find encouraging words for us in the daily grind of our lives, including the admonition that we should “worship God.”

  • A New Vision of Heaven, Part 6: Reigning Forever and Ever (Rev. 22:3-5)

by Elder Buddy Abernathy (preached on October 15, 2025)

As we return to Elder Buddy Abernathy’s exposition of the Book of Revelation, we come to the end of another division within that series, which I have entitled “A New Vision of Heaven.” You may recall that we have seen the new heavens and new earth and the Bride of Christ in Chapter 21, and the living waters and the tree of life in Chapter 22. Today we conclude this subdivision by looking at the rest of the vision of John in Chapter 22:3-5. We see here that there will be no more curse in heaven, and that we shall see God’s face there. There will also be no need for the sun, because the Son of God shines forth and gives light to those who will reign forever and ever. Join us today for this powerful sermon of encouragement.

  • The Book of Romans, Part 113: God, Government, and You (cont.) (Rom. 13:1-7)

by Elder Chris McCool, Pastor (preached on February 15, 2026)

As we continue our exposition of the Book of Romans, we are dealing with the principle that God has ordained government and that we are supposed to be subject to it. In the first half of this sermon, we began by answering some questions about government, God, and the child of God. When we paused the sermon yesterday, we were talking about the purposes of government. Today, we finish up with that question, and move on to the question of how we deal with government as children of God. Join us today for the conclusion of this important lesson about God, government, and you.

  • The Daysman (Job 9:32)

by Elder Tim McCool (preached on November 3, 2013)

In this powerful sermon, preached by Elder Tim McCool here at Zion Primitive Baptist Church back in 2013, we learn about the “Daysman.” This term refers to one who is a mediator between two parties. While we have no earthly mediator between God and man, Bro. Tim teaches us from Scripture that our true Daysman is the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • The Book of Romans, Part 112: God, Government, and You (Rom. 13:1-7)

by Elder Chris McCool, Pastor (preached on February 15, 2026)

In this sermon, which follows fast on the heels of our previous discussion about the difference between the Kingdom of God and the kingdoms of men, we ask several questions. Where do we get government? What is government supposed to do? How do we, as children of God, deal with government? We begin to answer these and other questions in this exposition from Romans 13. Join us for the first half of this sermon, dealing with these important questions.

  • The Book of Romans, Part 111: Persecution and the Kingdom of God (Rom. 13:1)

by Elder Chris McCool, Pastor (preached on February 8, 2026)

In this sermon, we continue our study of the theology of government in our ongoing exposition of the Book of Romans. As we did in the previous sermon, we begin in Romans 13:1 and explore the idea of the separation that ought to exist between the Kingdom of God and the kingdoms of men. While the idea of a “marriage” between church and state might sound enticing to some, in reality it has always led to the corruption of the true worship of God. In fact, it has been during the times of greatest persecution that the faith has seemed to thrive the most! Join us today as we explore the effect of persecution on the Kingdom of God.

  • The Book of Romans, Part 110: Two Very Separate Kingdoms (Rom. 13:1, Phil. 3:20)

by Elder Chris McCool, Pastor (preached on February 8, 2026)

When we paused the message yesterday, we were about to finish up demonstrating the vast differences between the Kingdom of God and the kingdoms of men. Today, we will finish up our discussion of these differences, and then focus upon the separation that ought to always exist between these two Kingdoms. In doing so, we will focus on several writings by Elder John Leland, an Old Baptist minister from the late 1700s and early 1800s, who was a champion for the religious liberties enshrined in our United States Constitution. Join us today for the conclusion of this important message about the theology of government.
