As we get ever closer to the the first THE WALKING DEAD episode of the year, our intrepid adventures take some time to... well... ramble a bit and then settle on talking about audio books, narrators, and other random things.

It's just a few short weeks until THE WALKING DEAD returns! Of course, we don't just watch the zombie shows, so this week we're talking about the new BBC DRACULA series and the horror film UNDERWATER, and - fair warning - we get pretty spoiler-y. We also have some more thoughts on liking the work but not the creator, and some favorite films that haven't aged well.

Yes, folks, it's true... we're still alive.
Our "hey, let's take two weeks off for the holidays" somehow turned into "do you realize we haven't recorded in a month?", and while we don't regret the time we got to spend with family and friends while easing into the new year, it's time to fire up the mics and do the thing. So here is the first epsiode of the thing that we do of 2020, and we return you to our regularly scheduled rambling bits of this and that, as we await the return of the Dead that Walk and other things undead. In which we catch up on THE WALKING DEAD! First Mr. Harvey had a trip to DC that got in the way of recording, and then Mr. Adair had a trip to St. Louis that got in the way of recording, but we're back and covering "What it  Always Is", "Bonds" and "Open Your Eyes" in one fell swoop!

Happy Halloween to all our listeners! We hope you're enjoying the spookiest of holidays - well, aside from Valentine's Day (shudder) - because we celebrated by recording this episode, in which we can't escape the "Humans Are The REAL Monsters" theme that infuses the zombie genre, for good and for ill, and there are some really questionable decisions made by people who should know better. Still, there are some great performances and solid character moments, and some critical pieces are moving around in interesting ways.

In which we discuss the ghosts of the past in the form THE WALKING DEAD putting Carol through the ringer ONCE AGAIN - and how this both works to develop her character and yet is still misery porn - and how it's the character moments that make this episode work.

In which we examine the origins of the Whisperers - something we didn't ask for, didn't need, and to some degree doesn't answer the real question of why anyone would be attracted to pretending to be zombies - and yet find good writing, excellent performances, and much ominous foreshadowing.

In which we enjoy THE WALKING DEAD's seaspn premiere "The Lines We Cross", and record in the same room again for the first time in two years! Yes, that's right, while we recorded later than usual this week, we did it because we had the opportunity for Mr. Adair to join Mr. Harvey back in KC for this episode, and we simply couldn't pass on the chance. It was great to do the show in person again, and we hope you enjoy it!

In which we discuss the final episode of FEAR THE WALKING DEAD's fifth season, and the few moments we liked out of what was, ultimately, a disappointing end to a disappointing season.
