This week mum caught up on a pair of recent actioners: 2011's The Raid (she liked it when that guy got a knife in the noggin) and 2017's live action remake of Ghost in the Shell ("It's a bit too complicated. My poor little head.")

Mum reviews George Clooney's end-of-the-world movie The Midnight Sky, which is reassuringly set in the future. She's also seen 2013's surprise indie hit Blue Ruin.

Mum's cinema has closed again but before it did she caught the last showing of Kevin Costner melodrama Let Him Go. She's also seen 2015's old-fashioned romantic drama Brooklyn, starring Saoirse Ronan ("no bums and willies flashing around in this one").

In this year's festive special, Grandma reviews Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Also, Wonder Woman 1984 is here to save cinemas! Mum has been to see it because I asked her nicely.

Mum reviews some films as per usual but the main thing is that she tells us about her jury service.

Mum gets all arthouse this week, with a review of the winner of the 2018 Palme d'Or, Hirokazu Kore-eda's Shoplifters. She's also seen Lynne Ramsay's 2002 classic, Morvern Callar, starring Samantha Morton.

Mum has seen terrifying western horror, Bone Tomahawk, and I am very glad to report she has not suffered a heart attack. She also reviews Make Up, which, like all the best films, is set in a British caravan park.

Before mum's cinema closed again, she went to see Max Winslow and the House of Secrets. Then, before we could record the podcast, she forgot everything about it, so instead we talk about grandma's new 64 inch tv. Mum also reviews 2014 Kiwi horror comedy What We Do in the Shadows.

Mum has seen the latest adaptation of The Secret Garden, which inevitably stars Colin Firth ("He's got house-munchkin by proxy"). She also reviews The Craft: Legacy ("The acting's shite") and Tom Cruise classic, Edge of Tomorrow.
