POEM: "Wishing Well" - Josh Lynott
I like making wishes.
I don't mind where I store them.
There hidden in my journals, letters, and hung to stars I can't see.
I've wished on you, I've wished on me.
The magic is in the wish, not the cupboard it's stored in.
Wishes don't live at the bottom of the well,
They dance in the idea you hope to tell.
Tell me more about the word you're scared to spell.
I look for numbers on the clock three times a day.
one one one, four four four, eleven eleven.
I see them on number plates
and letterboxes I walk by.
Wishes are the only religion that pulls the world together,
Every time we make one, we hope things get a little better.
Not all wishes come true,
They're simply a guiding star to walk to.
I don't want to leave my soul in the wishing well,
I don't want to leave my heart hanging to a star.
I'll throw my coins, I'll watch the clock.
This life and my wishes are all I've got.
