In Mormonism and other orthodox religions, we were taught to cut off and distance ourselves from core parts of our psyche. We were taught to hate those parts, to shame those parts, and to even go to war against them. It's little wonder why we continue to disown or dislike these parts even long after leaving religion behind.
Instead of projecting our shadow onto the world, can we become aware of it, learn to accept it, or—daresay—even love it?
