Dates: Cont’ December 15th, 2009, (Day 9) 
Detectives recover the contents of Susan Powell’s safe deposit box, uncovering critical evidence: birth certificates, Social Security cards, bank records, savings bonds, handwritten notes, counseling research, and a chilling handwritten will stating she did not trust her husband, Josh Powell.

This episode examines coercive control, financial abuse, psychological abuse, religious manipulation, and Susan’s documented efforts to protect herself and her children—including video evidence of household assets stored for safety.

Sixteen years ago, a meeting was held with Josh and his legal counsel. A couple of interviews were conducted with friends and family members, and several tip calls were investigated, some of which proved useful while others did not.

In this episode we explore the eighth day of the investigation verifying a mysterious purchase that Josh made and how quick he is to uproot his children from their comforts.

This episode highlights new tip calls showing Susan lived under control and fear, secretly wanting a divorce and hiding her movements to avoid Josh. GPS data reveals Josh making unexplained trips, including hours spent in a remote gravel pit, deepening questions about his actions and Susan’s disappearance.

This episode focuses on the critical hours before and after Susan’s disappearance, highlighting Josh’s rental car that logged 807 unexplained miles and an 18-hour gap while he claimed to be driving around Salt Lake Valley. A formal interview with the last person to see Susan alive—reveals a series of highly unusual behaviors by Josh on December 6th.
