The wait is over!! After 13 years Tool has dropped the amazing "Fear Inoculum".

This is a dense, layered, lengthy album full of challenging and complex songs.

I have been listening to this album, in sequence, for the entire past 12 months and am more high on it now than ever before.

It grows on you!

I present my 'Pearl Jam 10 Albums Ranked' list to Josh to see how it looks side-by-side with his...we weave into 90s music transitions into the 2000s and many other music themes.

Josh has returned to discuss his favourites from the 2010s decade - but before we get there we take time to discuss how Spotify and Apple Music (among other streaming services) have permanently changed the music experience for all of us.

Interesting episode!

As a precursor for the Quarantine Mixtape mini-series Glen and I discuss the art of making a mixtape and the choices between song placement, etc.

We also bring up and delve into Columbia House Music Club (it was around in the 90s) where one could order 10 cassettes for 1 penny and then have to purchase 5 more at an inflated 'regular' price...it was a great way to expand your collection.

We also bring up the chipmunks sounding 'high speed dubbing', trying to tape songs off the radio, top loading cassette recording devices and how the mixtape resurfaced in pop culture with Guardians of the Galaxy.

I would like to introduce Erik Armstrong to the podcast series.

He has been living in Vancouver since he turned 19 and has managed to maintain a career in music ever since (he is an Audio Engineer and a Live Sound Tech).

In late 2005 Erik was employed at The Warehouse - Bryan Adams' recording studio - as an Assistant Engineer...much to his delight Canada's most famous band, The Tragically Hip, entered the studio to record their 10th studio album "World Container".

Erik shares his stories about his 6 weeks working closely with The Hip and producer Bob Rock...stories such as getting a drum lesson from Johnny Fay on the very drum kit Fay used on "Fully Completely"...Downie bouncing last-minute lyric changes off him...the band setting up and settling in to the studio and starting into 'Wheat Kings' as Erik walked around the room running cables...Erik even got offered a job to go back to the Hip's home studio 'The Bath House'.

There are some hilarious stories about how Canadian and down(ie) to earth the band is, as Erik remembers this experience!

October 17th, 2006 was the release date for this album....who would think that 11 years later the same calendar day would share Gordon Downie's last day on Earth.
