Homily from the Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time. Is faith about what is on your resumé? Are you stuck in the trap where you have to do enough, so that you have enough, in order to be enough? If faith merely comes down to presenting God with our resume, then we are not faithful…we are superstitious. Christian faith is appealing to Jesus’ work, not ours. Christian faith is about appealing to Jesus’ victory, not ours. Christian faith is about appealing to Jesus’ goodness, not our own.
