In this episode our guest is Ren Lauren Britton, an artist and designer who specialises in transfeminist and disability justice-based practice. The focus will be on how design, teaching and collaboration can be organised in a more inclusive and equitable manner. Britton will talk about an experimental course at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle, where collective working, access riders and new forms of collaboration were explored. The focus is less on results and more on relationships, trust, and shared learning. The conversation also highlights the inherent tensions in such approaches, such as when needs clash or structures reach their limits. This episode explores design as 'worldbuilding', the conscious unlearning of norms, and how a different practice can become possible.
Ren Loren Britton is a trans-disciplinary artist-designer dancing with transfeminism, technosciences, radical pedagogy and disability justice. They make multi sensorial media installations. Transness in their practice considers what would be needed so that —pleasure for all— would be possible. They attend to plural hir- his- her- stories and presents of social and technical infrastructures making lives accessible and possible.
