Paul’s Roman guards were hearing the Gospel. The palace guard was sometimes called The Praetorian Guard. They were elite Roman soldiers who served as bodyguards for generals as early as 275 BC and eventually Roman emperors when the republic became an empire. They were important on the battlefield and in power politics as well and were even involved in the assassination of emperors! These were not men you messed with. Somehow the message that Paul was bringing had made its way into this body of elite soldiers! How did that happen?
