That's because a pandemic-era immigration policy could soon expire, perhaps as early as midnight tonight, despite a temporary hold on the rule from the Supreme Court. China is battling a disturbing new surge of COVID infections. A new study from the University of Hong Kong warns the country could see nearly a million deaths from the virus this winter, after lifting its harsh zero COVID policies. A 6.4 magnitude earthquake in California hit along the pacific coast overnight. The U.S. Geological Survey says the nearest town to the epicenter is Ferndale, some 4.5 hours north of San Francisco.
