Road to IFAT: Why this trade fair is more than just a trade fair

IFAT is more than a trade fair – it’s a meeting point, a think tank, and a class reunion for the international water and wastewater industry. In this first episode of “Road to IFAT,” we speak with Philipp Eisenmann, Project Manager of IFAT, about the significance of the event, its unique spirit, and why the anticipation begins months in advance.

We take a look behind the scenes: How many people are actually working on IFAT? How is the program created? And why were five exhibition days reduced to four? We also discuss current focus topics such as the future of wastewater, digitalization, water resilience, the fourth treatment stage, phosphorus recovery, and stormwater management.

In addition, there are plenty of practical tips for visitors: the trade fair app, solution tours, camping directly at the exhibition grounds, program highlights, and why you should definitely schedule time to simply explore and let yourself drift. The perfect introduction for anyone planning to attend IFAT in 2026 – whether it’s your first time or your tenth.
