13elephants: Bankrupt Ego: S1: Episode 004

Commentary on ego may ‘sit’ within notions of narcissism and/or arrogance yet may also align with traits of sadness and decline. To speak of ego - is to represent ego in ‘self’. To exhibit ego in traits of behaviour, is to present a lived experience of self where ambiguity remains around predetermined characteristics aligned to ego. We react to ego in others, while in some form - ego resides in all of us. When realisation occurs that we have control over ego, the lived experience of ego emerges more as a perspective retold from unhealed ‘other’s’ – where untruths define ego traits extended toward ‘us’. “Bankrupt Ego” is a lived experience of self, where the third space understanding of success and/or superiority is aligned to the decline of ego, rather than to the perception of ego as method to realize one’s superiority in self in relation to others. 13elephants: Not Normal: S1: Episode 003 Not Normal… We may choose to define ourselves as ‘other’ to characteristics, views, positions of ‘us’ constructed and normalised by society. The effort here - to self-define oneself within, outside of, or in relation to these societal constructs, without conforming to labels, characteristics and/or views others or society places on us as unique individuals. Being ‘Not Normal’ is a lived and learned experience, often retold by others, rather than from the positionality of a lived experience of self.
