Pastor Mark Hammer joins the podcast today to discuss his journey of re-evaluating his understanding of eschatology and the end times.
Mark takes us through the different views of end times, including premillennialism, historicism, postmillennialism, and amillennialism. He also shares his shift from a dispensationalist view to an idealist-amillennial view to eventually a partial-preterist view. He emphasizes the importance of interpreting Scripture in its historical and literary context, and highlights the use of literary devices such as chiasms and Hebrew parallelism. Mark challenges the traditional interpretation of prophecies and eschatological events, arguing that many of them have already been fulfilled in the past.
Both Jenny and Mark emphasize the need to stay humble as well as focus on living out the kingdom of God in the present while bringing glory to His name.
Mark Hammer has been in full time ministry with his amazing wife, Lindsey for almost 18 years. He is currently one of the teaching pastors at North Summit Church in northern Idaho and has been pastoring there since 2014. Mark also oversees the Community Team of staff who head up the major connection and discipling environments at the church. In his spare time, he loves being with his family, reading books, discussing the Bible, and hiking and backpacking while searching for bigfoot.
