In today’s episode of the Medical Nursing Podcast, we’re talking all about protein-losing nephropathy… aka PLN! Protein-losing nephropathy is a relatively common renal disease in dogs - it is a renal disease in its own right, but it also causes CKD as it progresses. We do see some pretty severe complications in these patients, and some can be life-threatening - but with careful monitoring and good nursing care, we can make a big difference to patients with PLN. But to do that, we first need to look at what PLN is, and how it affects our patients.
