In today’s episode of the ‘Career Change Maker’ podcast, I talk about why who you spend time with is going to impact how quickly you're able to make your next career change.

The reason why I want to focus on this is that we need to be thinking about what is holding us back from moving towards the career change and career development that we ultimately want to make.

·       01:30 – I start by sharing a story of a client that I worked with.
·       03:15 - The thing that made the biggest difference was a community so my client was able to surround herself with a group of people who had a completely different perspective to those that she would normally spend time with.
·       06:20 – I encourage you to look beyond just adding people into your network and instead focus on what the point is of expanding your network.
·       08:15 - Being around friends, family members, and people who have seen you in your current role, with your current status, can hold you back as that's how they will see you - this will make it difficult for you to view yourself in another way.
·       10:05 - If you don't have the right people in your network then you should start thinking about the strategies and actions you can take to fill those gaps.
·       11:55 – I created this program and the Career Change Maker Method because it pains me to see so many amazing, brilliant women not reaching their career potential.

What you will learn: 

1. Successful people and those in leadership positions are going to have mentors and coaches. They are going to have people who are guiding them or who are supporting them, and helping them to get to where it is that they want to get to. These types of people can act as a guide for you too on your career journey. 
2. Expanding your network is about building relationships. Building relationships will help open doors and opportunities for you. They're going to introduce you to the right people. It also helps to elevate or shift your mindset around what is possible for you, and that is even more powerful.
3. If you're surrounding yourself with people who are of a positive mindset, who have a growth mindset then you too are going to have that but if you are surrounded by people who don't, then it's hard for you to push through and maintain that. So I encourage you to start thinking strategically about your network.
