185 Miles South

It's Talkin' Nardcore again with Joe and Stu. We start if off by talking the greatest Nardcore albums of the 90's and enter some into the  HOF. We call Fred Hammer for some background on the Localism comp. Then it's time for another story with Forrest that ties in perfect. Finally, we get Donavan Coffey on to talk playing in Nardcore bands from the late 80's through present day.

Greg and Daniel are back to give their takes on the best hardcore releases on 2019. First off though, we gotta discuss the best release: Take Offense "Keep an Eye Out". Greg gives his insight on the record and we go into some of the details that made this record that sounds like literally nothing else. Next up, it's top 5 from your top 3. Get it!

Merry Xmas everyone. Here's 2+ hours about the greatest band on earth: Retaliate. Super fun, party episode. Stu and Bert start interviewing Verity and myself, but we switch around the mic's and get Roger and Matt on as well. Then we call Aaron Belchere to talk about the art from We Are One and Thorns Without a Rose (lololololol). We also call Kyle to ask about his experience playing in the band for a couple shows. Fun ep with lots of love and LOLz.

On this ep of Talkin Nardcore we make it official: who's in the 1980's 185 Miles South HOF? Stu, Joe, and I agreed on a handful and we talk about them. Then it's time to go to Storytime with Forrest, which will hopefully be a regular part of all of the Talkin' Nardcore's going forward. Finally, we bring on Becca Porter, who has been in the scene since the 70's, worked at BYO before they had a record out, and once wanted to be a clown. We go through her life from an early punk to eventually getting a PHD.

We love 2000's hardcore so much our recording went almost four fucking hours. I broke it up for the non-psychos out there. More knowledge dropping from the 185 SD trio.

This week I'm joined by the original bass player of Ill Repute, Jim Callahan. We talk about getting into punk, meeting the IR guys, all the recordings and more. Jim is a great interview with a slightly different perspective from the others so this is a good listen. All Hail our Ill Repute lords!!

On this special ep we dial into the often not mentioned dark years of the Nard: 1987-1992. We bring in the legend, Joe Rivas', older brother Davi Rivas to talk about his early bands, and this period. Then we dive into his successful run in the 90's, playing big European shows and even putting out a single on Marlboro Records.

Forrest Lorenzana is on next to talk his early bands, that dark era, Clenched Fist, what it was like to play Ill Repute. Forrest drops a story he thought was too sensitive for the normal folk, so we shoved it onto Patreon for the true 185'ers. A fun listen and I learned a shit ton from this one. Nardcore!

Part 1 with our main bro Aaron Belchere was a ragor and fun as hell. For part two, I brought in scene veteran Fernando Hernandez to question us with a little more of an outsider perspective. He does a great job and digs into some of the meat of the band and asks questions that a bunch of people may have been curious about.
