In today's episode I am talking about when you feel resistance to change, keep going.
When you are contemplating a career move or your in the process of figuring it out, it is likely that you are going to experience resistance. Reistance can come in different forms, internal and external. Im going to talk about both forms but more focus on the internal resistance.
My client I'm talking about has been making incredible progress inside the program, she identified what she doesn't want to do, she clarified some options she wants to pursuit.
What my client is feeling right now is normal. If you are in your comfort zone, if you have been in your role to a lot of years, you are comfortable in your role, your comfortable doing your job how you have been doing it for so many years, it's what you know.
Now when you decide to step outside of your comfort zone, your subconscious mind is like "what are we doing. why are we doing this?" This is where the resistance comes in but you need to be able to keep going, it doesn't mean you should give up, if you feel the resistance it means you are stepping out of your comfort zone, you are opening up for different experiences.
Resistance is a good thing it shows your taking action and doing the uncomfortable things that are required in order for you to move from A-B.
Its very important to ask yourself "why am embarking on this journey, what is my motivation" when you start to doubt yourself, you can always go back to your "why" and get re-fuelled to continue on your journey.
What you will learn:
The power of resistance - When you have decided that you want to make a career move and you embark on your journey, it is normal for you to feel some resistance. You are coming out of your comfort zone, so the experience will inevitably feel a little challenging. But never give up - it is definitely possible for YOU.
Using external factors - We have all heard that saying: "you have to be in it to win it" and this definitely applies when you want to make that career change. You will have to be consistent and prepared to put yourself fully out there. Just sending one or two CVs to companies once every week or applying for the odd job here and there is not going to give you the result you are looking for.
Identify the "why" of your journey - Take some time to reflect and ask yourself: "why do I want to make a career move and what is the motivation?" Getting clarity around what that is, is going to help with your transition when the resistance starts setting in.
