It’s the end of the first quarter of 2018 and the Down Placers are feeling a little peckish. To slake their hunger, they decided to take in the 1970 classic “Taste the Blood of Dracula” (dir Peter Sasdy). Did the guys like the meal or did they send it back? Listen to find out!

No one would blame you if you thought this podcast and these podcasters somehow got . . . um . . . lost on a lost continent, but the truth is much more mundane. You’ll hear about that, and the film The Lost Continent (dir. Michael Carreras, Leslie Norman), in this episode. It’s the triumphant return of 1951 Down Place, and two-thirds of the Down Placers!

Scott Morris is a podcast legend*. He’s been podcasting for over nine years at Disney, Indiana. He was a regular contributor to Derek’s previous podcasting venture. He’s contributed to numerous podcasts over the years. And from 2011 to 2016, he was one of the co-producers of 1951 Down Place, where he, Derek, and Casey Criswell examined a movie from the classic Hammer Films catalog once a month. Scott joins Derek this week to discuss what happened to 1951 Down Place, what the future holds for this podcast, and why it might have something to do with what’s happening with all-things Monster Kid Radio moving forward!

* Derek has no idea if Scott’s really all that comfortable with being called a “legend” so often, but quite frankly, he doesn’t care. Scott’s a podcast legend as far as Derek’s concerned!

The Down Placers may have suffered a minor reboot of their own as they tackle Hammer’s attempt at rebooting their Frankenstein franchise in 1970’s The Horror of Frankenstein (dir. Jimmy Sangster). Does this new take on the material live up to the Cushing-dripping goodness of the previous films? Listen . . . and find out!
(Thank you for everyone’s patience as this episode made its way through post-production. The “day jobs” of your hosts took up a lot more time than normal these past few months – Casey got a new job, Scott is on a mini-vacation, and Derek is stuck in a pair of pants. We’re working on getting back on track, and you can expect Episode #58 discussing 1954’s The Unholy Four (dir. Terence Fisher) in about a week.)

Half woman, half snake and all Hammer on this month’s 1951 Down Place! Casey, Derek and Scott take a look at 1966’s The Reptile staring Noel Willman, Jennifer Daniel, Ray Barrett, and directed by John Gilling. Will the Down Placers be charmed by the this film or will they be full of venom after watching. Take a listen to this episode of Down Place that’s sealed with a hiss.

Terence Fisher was a busy man for Hammer in the 1960s. A total of ten Hammer films were released bearing the name Terence Fisher, and one of those movies was The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll. Casey, Derek, and Scott take a crack at looking at both sides of this film while keeping their repressed evil sides at bay.
