News in the rock world included the loss of Dennis Wilson, KISS' long-awaited unmasking, final shows by Humble Pie and Thin Lizzy, and much more.

Numerous important albums were released in these months including debut releases by Metallica, Slayer, RATT, Suicidal Tendencies, and many more as well as important releases by Motley Crue, Billy Idol, Ozzy, and a bunch more.
