Tune into a SOLO episode to hear a snippet of my story. There was a POWER I would feel in being so rigid and strict with my food and exercise. I had to though, I always had a competition to prep for and a constant fear of gaining 5lbs.
I skipped desserts, brought my own food to restaurants, white-knuckled avoiding my favorite meals and cocktails because none of that was an option (in my mind).
The people in my life always got to know me as that girl who would skip the indulgent food- and I felt so powerful because of it.
Why? Well, It gave me an excuse to say “no” and it gave me an excuse to continue being so “hardcore” and have willpower.
⭐️The decision to stop competing was Not an easy one, but not because I’d “miss” it. Frankly, I was burnt out. it was hard because I would no longer have this excuse as to why I could say “no” to certain foods. A cookie would be offered to me and I would no longer be able to use the competition prep as my crutch.
⭐️It hit me hard, after the last show that I realized my heart wasn’t in it. I NEVER should be using a competition or anything for that matter to VALIDATE my choice to move my body or eat certain foods.
I was so focused on what others would say about me, and fear of gaining weight that I lost sight of MY LIFE in terms of what I want in my future (health, happiness, a relationship, a social life, etc).
⚡️it wasn’t easy to no longer have my crutch, but I KNEW something had to change and I had to give myself permission to live my life FREE of being tied to a show.
It took TIME, PATIENCE, and SUPPORT, but I slowly began to feel a HUGE weight lifted from finally allowing freedom in my food choices, and less focus on the judgement from others.
