みなさんこんにちは、かなこです！今日のシャドーイングは「てform + あげる」です。今回のPodcastは、Stevenさんの提供でお送りします。

Hi everyone, it’s Kanako. Today’s shadowing is “Do something for someone as a favor / on demand”. This “あげる” is not the actual verb but is a helping verb to describe the giving of services.

For instance, “I bought my friend a cup of coffee as a favor.” “友達にコーヒーをおごってあげました。” If you say “友達にコーヒーをおごりました。”, it’s a simple fact that you bought your friend a coffee.

I made dinner for my friend. 友達に晩ご飯を作ってあげました。

I taught my cousin English. いとこに英語を教えてあげました。

I lent money to my younger brother. 弟にお金を貸してあげました。

I took my parents on a trip. 両親を旅行に連れて行ってあげました。

I helped a friend with her homework. 友達の宿題を手伝ってあげました。

I made Daifuku for my grandma. おばあちゃんに大福を作ってあげました。

I gave my friend a ride to the station. 友達を駅まで送ってあげました。

I cleaned my boyfriend's room. 彼氏の部屋を掃除してあげました。

I went to the station to pick up my dad. 駅にお父さんを迎えに行ってあげました。

I made coffee for my mom. お母さんにコーヒーを淹れてあげました。
