みなさんこんにちは、かなこです！今日のシャドーイングは「～ていただけませんか・くれませんか・くれない？」です。今回のPodcastは、Michaelさんの提供でお送りします。

Hi everyone, it’s Kanako. Today’s shadowing is “To make a polite request”.

While “Te-form+ください” is more directly asking “please do”, “Te-form+いただけませんか” is more like “Would you…?” and “Te-form+くれませんか” is less polite than “いただけませんか”.

“Te-form+くれない？” is a casual way to ask for a favor, therefore, it’ll be used with family members or friends.

Will you take me to the hospital? 病院に連れて行ってくれませんか。

Will you help me with my homework? 宿題を手伝ってくれませんか。

Will you drive me to the station? 駅まで送ってくれませんか。

Will you go get me some medicine? 薬を買ってきてくれませんか。

Can you wake me up at 7 tomorrow? 明日７時に起こしてくれない？

Can you help me out a little? ちょっと手伝ってくれない？

Can you pass me the salt? 塩取ってくれない？

Can you make me some coffee? コーヒー淹れてくれない？
