Hi everyone, it’s Kanako. Today’s shadowing is “B, despite the fact A”, “A, but contrary to expectations, B.

“のに” is used when connecting two facts, A and B, which hold despite the expectation that if A is the case, B is not the case.

For instance, if you walked a lot you would expect to be tired, however, you are not tired. In this case, you can say something like this.「たくさん歩いたのに、全然疲れていません。」
