Welcome to the very first installment of 2 Sense's new podcast called quickies. Very similar borrowing the name from the fun segment in the Ask Rome Series, but this is geared toward brief but effective takes on various topics. For this first segment, I wanted to touch on how I believe us as men (males) process a break-up. Emotions are not as free for some of us males being that society doesn't want us to be so emotional but strong for our peers. Being that we are not experienced in that field, we manage those feelings like an amateur naturally would.

As a man, society has had a hand in silencing us on our honest thoughts on shit we deal with it in our minds. If we speak on it, we being a bitch, if we don’t then we don’t know how to communicate with our loved ones. I wanted to tap into some of the things that run through my mind as a man that aren’t so much accepted. 

Ah yes, the ladies who are so used to holding shit together for their families, but specifically with the males they choose to date that either don’t know how or they just don’t allow their men to be the head of the household; I wanted to talk about the realization of it and also my understanding as to why it even happens in our society right now. Some uncomfortable perspectives ahead on this topic. 

Have you ever found yourself caught in a dark space in your life? Nothing going according to your plans or goals? Down on your luck? Just plain not happy with how life is going? I can definitely relate to this throughout my 20’s. I was so caught up in how life was to look versus what it actually was on many levels. Mental health is a bitch but once it’s understood and applied purposefully, it can change your life.  Take a listen to what I share about my own experience with darkness and how I found a way out of it.

Kung Fu Kenny got the choice for halftime performer and with the biggest record in hip hop in 2024 “Not Like Us” taking direct aim at Drake, it’ll be interesting if he performs that song on Sunday. 

Dating can be a gamble, especially when you have no idea what you’re doing in your 20s. Along the way, I came across many personalities and some with more mental health issues than others. It can be difficult to manage at times, but peep some the stories I share on this topic.

Traveling can be insightful if you focus enough on how beneficial it can be for your mind. To see different areas, different cultures and different people with multiple perspectives. Some you agree with, some you don’t. I’ve been fortunate in my life to see many places across the world due to the military and a love for traveling to see family and friends.

Healing is challenging and especially healing around those who have seen you through the years. How does one go about setting boundaries with these people? When you tend to put yourself first, it irritates those who benefited from you not having boundaries. 

Talking to girls started back in middle school, what a change in how we communicate as we evolve into adulthood. Some of the funniest stories learning how to talk to girls at an early age. What the fuck were we thinking back then? 

So getting older, make a lot of mistakes, learn a few lessons, but when the hell will we take our life serious enough to start working on the goals to achieve success? One has to finally figure out what their purpose for success is going to be then work towards that. It took me close to 34 years in my life to figure out what I wanted to do. Amazing how time flies when you are having fun. It’s time to be creative and ambitious to attack our goals.
