Athalia Ponsell Lindsley, born on July 25, 1917, was a former model and active community member in St. Augustine, Florida. On January 23, 1974, she was brutally murdered outside her home at 124 Marine Street. The attack, carried out by an unidentified assailant with a machete, resulted in her death at the age of 56. Her murder remains unsolved despite suspicions and investigations involving her husband, James Lindsley, and neighbor Alan Stanford, both of whom were considered suspects but ultimately not convicted.
