For our final episode of season 3, I wanted to change it up a bit. I was referred by one of our previous guests to talk to a very sweet lady who lost her late son Joseph Schultz while serving overseas. Once I spoke to her, I knew I had to get her on quickly!
Immediately after her son's death, Ms. Betsy decided to keep his legacy alive by creating a non-profit in his honor. Her goal is to help Gold Star families within the U.S. get connected with others all while providing them a safe place to stay. And get this... all expenses are taken care of so they can really focus on that. Now what is a Gold Star family you ask? It's a family who has lost a loved one while serving in the Military. The sad part is many of these families tend to get left behind once their loved one dies. Ms. Betsy's mission is to help change that. So get ready for one of the cutest episodes we've done thus far. What a beautiful honor it was to sit down with this amazing woman.

I literally have no words for this episode but I'll try...
On episode 4 of this very season, I got the chance to interview my old shipmate and friend Drew as he talked about how his father in laws suicide affected him and his family. Well after speaking to his wife Ashley and both he and I asking, she chose to come on the show to share her side of the story, the events that lead up to her dads passing and how she has been able to overcome what some might think is one of the most unimaginable tragedy's any child could go through. It was an absolute honor to sit in with her and just watch her vulnerability unfold in such a beautiful way. Grab your tissues and get ready for one hell of a ride!!

Here we are almost 2 month into the most historic and crazy time in our lives. COVID-19 has been a pain in our ass on the work front and home front. But there's one thing that's becoming another form of tragedy with COVID that not many people have been talking about and that's mental health.
The suicide rates have climbed for Doctors, Nurses and those on the front lines trying to get a handle on this. People are relapsing with their drug, alcohol and other addictions. The domestic abuse for both children and adults have also gone up to no end yet people are only consumed with what the media wants you to know.
Well here at 2200TAPS, we are holding true to our mission and doing what we can to help provide resources and hope to those who just might need something different right now. I myself have had to be gut level honest with myself of whats working and what's not. I got to thinking and decided to reach out to a buddy of mine to see if we could create a really cool episode around this and we did just that.
So join me on this special episode as we sit down with 2 special guests who are immersed in the mental health community, Nancy Reffit, MS, LPC, LCDC and Recovery Coach Brandon Skidmore. Both of them jumped on the opportunity to jump on and share ways we can take care of ourselves and help others during this pandemic!

COVID_19 has put a thorn in our ass to no end!! Well, one of the coolest things to come out of this pandemic is being able to reconnect with old shipmates and friends of mine. Join me on this episode as a drunken stupor zoom call turned into a pretty cool interview for your enjoyment. My buddy Drew started sharing how he felt about his father in-laws suicide and agreed to share his story for all my listeners.
The following day, I replayed the episode to see what we captured just to be on the safe side and wouldn't you know it...it came out better than expected. So after talking to Drew later on in the day, he reassured me to go on ahead and share his personal phone number to each and every one of y'all so you can reach out to him if YOU need someone to talk to. Buckle up peeps because this is a raw and real as it gets!!

You ever heard about Podcast hosts interviewing their mothers? Yeah, neither have I. That's why I wanted to stretch myself this season and just go for it!
So join me as I sit down with the woman who literally made me and is my all time hero...my mom! She became a mom at the tender age of 16 and is the true definition of grit, compassion and overcomer like non other. I get choked up thinking about the ways I would see her get bullied...how she would literally take it because she knew she had to finish school to get us out of there and make a better life for the both of us!!
So I'm asking you today...who's your hero? Make sure to leave a comment and tell me why?

Ever turn on the news and you hear that we lost another service member overseas? Well, you don't really hear about the actual events. I mean, who would want to?! Would you believe me if I said that there tends to be whitewashing cover ups that happen to put the blame on the member(s) that died in order to prevent the tarnish of the COs name?
Well join us as I sit down with one of my old shipmates from the Coast Guard as we talk about an incident that he and his crew experienced. In order to keep their shipmates legacy alive, Kelton and his crew put their lives on the line to help change the trajectory for the entire Coast Guard to help save the lives of countless others...and it worked! A true hero's story to say the least!!

Well join me as we take a very intimate dive with an amazing woman closest to me. She's a survivor, a warrior, real life wonder woman and one of my biggest blessings. How do you handle the news when you're told you lost a mentor to the very demons he helped you fight through? Trust me, as numbed out as I was over his death, I was equally confused. A few words that seem to comfort me still..."he was not that day".
Season 2 Finale is a tear jerker as we remember a man who really needs no introduction. This man has helped save literally thousands of lives including my own. On this episode, join me as I sit down with many guests who wanted to share what Martin meant to them and did for them.
Thank you Martin for your compassion, vulnerability, strength and the amount of courage some of us got to witness first hand. We will never forget you!!
RIP Martin Boyd

A Veterans mission to help share stories of those who have gone through traumas/tragedies, but how they've been able to overcome them because somebody needs to hear it. Is that somebody…
Why? Losing people, especially our own kids to suicide is absolutely gut wrenching. Losing 22 Veterans a day is bullsh*t and I was almost one of them! I will continue to stop at nothing until we get that number down to ZERO!!
