What soft fire persists under the hundreds of miles of devastation that are left in sorrowing survivors, unexploded bombs, and ashes?
The flowers, spiders, invisible bacteria, shadows of eagles, oozing stews of life coming up through the rubble, pushing aside the folly of our empire.  Happens again and again.  Viet Nam, Chile, Nicaragua, Vieques, Lumumba, Allende, Chico Mendes, Fred Hampton, Leonard Peltier.  The
task of being a USA person trying to maintain a conscience.  Always waiting for the freedom-fighters and the flowers.
