Today we're continuing our series on childhood development by talking about stress and it's influence on developmental progression. We use the word stress so lightly, but it is a physiological event that can affect every part of our bodies, and especially our brains. We are not meant to be in stress all the time. I think we often think about stress as it applies to adults, but forget that children can also experience stress and chronic stress. In this episode I talk about how stress relates to development and physiology, how it triggers our fight or flight response, and what to do if you or your child are caught in a cycle of chronic stress.
