Sometimes those kills shots don't go as planned or sometimes, despite a double lung shot, the deer finds it's way into terrain or structure that make the wounded deer track undetectable to the hunter. A trained deer tracking dog can be an immeasurable asset to a hunter in situations just like this and it's the right thing to do out of respect for the animal. But how does it work? What should we expect when we call in the dogs? We invited a panel of volunteer leashed dog deer trackers into the studio to discuss many of the issues surrounding tracking a wounded deer with a trained dog.
Dedication: This show is dedicated to our good friend Fender. He was the best deer and turkey camp dog we've ever known. Rest in peace my friend. We'll miss you buddy.
